Dreamblade was indeed fun. The set looks real nice.

I'm looking forward to busting out a few of the new figures in a constructed game next week.

The Baxar's minis are not legal for constructed for 2 weeks after release so you won't get to play them till the 10th. that sucks pretty hard eh?

Hello all,

One other thing.  The old timers need to get the new players to update their DCI info with location stuff.  If we want bigger events at GameKnight we need the DCI to realize the size of the player base by having big tournaments, and easily traceable players to Winnipeg within Canada.

Cheers

We've gone over the list of those who need to update before but a quick scan of the Canada players list turns up Jory, Megan, Bram, Dan Wurtele, Dan Palmer, Virgil, Kevin Maughten, Will, and Jay needing to update their info. I'm sure there are more players that I didn't recognize. Kyle needs to update his info as to being from Winnipeg but at least he's listed in Manitoba.

Everyone make sure to say Hello to the players flying in from Regina today. Poor bastards don't have any skirmish scene there, not even a single ranked player..... Let's hope they don't clean our clocks.

Anyway, I'm off to grab something to eat and then to Gameknight. Good luck everyone.

Thanks again to Scott and the rest of the Game Knight crew for running another great prerelease event. It was a lot of fun and aside from a couple DCI computer snafus everything ran nice and smooth.

21 people out today which isn't bad at all. Congradulations go out to Daniel for being our over all winner. I managed to fight my way to 2nd place with Richard being third and Norm rounding out 4th place.

Hello,

Sounds like an interesting event.

Is Daniel a new GameKnight player, or one of the imports from Regina?

Cheers

It was a fun day and I had lots of luck, I didn't think I would place in forth with my crappy tournament pulls. In my 2 boosters I won had the Ice Devil and the Howler.

I wasn't feeling too strong about my warband either, especially after a tough loss to Kevin in the first round but after some tough skirmishes I somehow managed to pull my way through to the finals.

My prize boosters netted me a second Githyanki Dragon Knight, a Lilend, the Air Genasi Swashbuckler, and an Owlbear. Not too shabby at all. I needs as many Owlbears as I can get.

Same thing happened to me and Rob. It's a mistake, you should get an email soon apologizing for that.

Pre-release was fun. I got my Ice Devil (One of my favourites in the set) and it stood up against some tough competition.

I am probably the first person on the planet to have carved his own pumpkin as a Bone Devil. It's just the outline, but it looks cool none the less. It has two pins holding up the tail.

What mini looks like an Ice Queen. This is because I was thinking of taking a picture of 4 or 5 Ice Devils on a snowbank with an Ice Queen mini on the top. Kinda like her fortress protected by her minions (I'll probably have 4 or 5 Ice Devils by the time we get a big enough snowbank hopefully).

Another picture I want to take is a pic of all of the devils.

I'll take the picture of the pumpkin soon enough, but the other two might take a while to get the minis. So much fun (except for the spending tons of cash part).

Disipline is the only way to overcome chaos.

Beer Baron, Paula and I had a great time, thanks again. On a side note, when can we start snapping up those sweet Blood Wars boosters?

Looking at the schedule for November, Thursday November 16th is listed as sealed draft, which doesn't make any sense. Sealed and Draft are both forms of limited tournaments, so I'm guessing this is a limited event done draft format? No sealed about it.

Friday Nov. 3rd.  If the minis are in my hands on Thursday, we'll do Thursday night Minis Midnight Madness again.  I'll keep the shop open until aftermidnight, and sell them yo you then.

Thanks again to all who came out to our pre-release.  I think it went well, despite trying to get it done by 4:00.  Congrats to our winners.

This week:

Weds:  No games, beer club meeting.
Thurs:  DDM 200 points sanctioned Constructed
Friday:  FNM, and Dreamblade Edge sanctioned
Sat:  D&D World Wide  Game Day - a FREE event playing D&D all day!

Richard - Nov 16th should indeed read Booster Draft.  But I guess the boosters are sealed......  I guess I'll have to go and whip my scheduling monkeys.

Whip em.... whip em real good.

Dang... missed out on another prerelease on account of work. I was up in Bear skin reserve Ontario and trust me there isn't a flags up there.

Glad to hear it all went well for those who attended.

I suppose with entering things online it could be either a sealed or a draft as you don't have to enter the event as one or the other, the only options are constructed, limited, and extreme. So if you enter a limited tournament it's up to you to decide if it's a sealed or draft event. Just like a constructed event can be 100 or 200 points.

The big gameday event on the 26th features a Draft in the 3rd slot so maybe having the other one that month be a regular sealed event wouldn't be a bad idea.

Ugh, hour long drives to uni make me wish I Lived in residence. not as bad as the 2.5 hour drive home yesterday though.

My preference for sealed over draft stems from the time factor. We tend to be somewhat pressed for time as is, and the extra 30-45 minutes drafting takes can shorten our games to the point where they're almost meaningless and we're only getting 2 or 3 rounds in and the final score is like 52-39 or something silly.

Sealed is better, have to agree. I never liked the thought of walking away with only one, or potentially no rares because you tried to get the peices that would help you win, even though you didn't. *shrugs* And it costs the same as sealed anyways, right?

Both systems have their advantages. I happen to enjoy drafting a lot.

The evening slot on the 26th is scheduled to be a draft event but with the possibility of having new players attend I was thinking it may work better as a regular sealed limited event. I think I'll give the option to those attending and playing which format they'll prefer and go from there.

Consulting with my crystal ball, also known as the staff here, we have decided that for draft events the boosters will be given out at 6:00 pm, there will be 30 minutes to draft, from 6:30 until 6:45 you can build your warbands, at 6:45 round 1 wiill start. this way the event won't take too long, and it will be over before the usual events.

So has it been decided which set we're using for the draft? Or a mix?

The Sealed on the 26th with be Blood Wars. I'm assuming the one on the 16th would be Blood Wars as well since the set just came out.

Speaking of which, have the cases arrived yet? What about the November retailer kits (not that we've put much of a dent into the October ones.)?

Hello,

I will be away on November 16th, so I have no preference or opinion on draft vs sealed.  I do have to say I generally prefer sealed, however, as it does set up more quickly.

So, who all was out on Saturday for the Pre-release?  Anyone have any great stories about the event?  Were all of the rares pulled during the day, or are some still unrevealed in Winnipeg?

Cheers

Getting there at 6:00 is near impossible for me, but for the future I prefer sealed events to Draft.

Omand, I don't I remeber haring about Vlaakith being pulled. Other than that, I think everything else was pulled as prizes or in warband boosters.

The cases have not arrived yet, and neither have the retailer kits. I talked to our man at WOTC last week, and he said that the stuff will be there for friday, now i don't know if that means it will be there on thursday, or if it will show up on friday morning, but if it goes the way he said everything should be there on thursday. We all know that the beer baron will post on here as soon as everything shows up.
