| This is what I'm thinking for chinese tonight.
35 - Beef Shanghai Noodles 38 - Chicken Diced Vegetables with Almonds 54 - Beef with Broccoli 77 - Honey Garlic Breaded Pork 80 - Black Bean and Garlic Chicken 95 x3 - Breaded Chicken 107 - Spicy Honey Garlic Breaded Veal 125 - Special Chow Mai 128 - Golden Dragon
More or less what we had last time with an extra item added since we'll have 8 tonight. Should be about $11-12 a person, I can't say for sure since the menu website has been down all week.
Do we want to save a couple buck and pick up or stay warm and get it delivered?

| I would be happy to do the pick up run if someone is willing to come with to help with the carrying.
Also I agree with Rob and Chris on the distribution of the wealth option 4 I believe it was. I haven't really been there long enough to see where the part has holes that need to be filled with gear though wands would be a great idea so we can try to get through more than one or two encounters a day. I would tend to vote against the purchasing of Ghost touch weapons, the same with most of the weapons that are specific to only one type creature. I would much rather go with a slightly more vairiable solution, such as an oil to add a temporary coating like Scott suggested. I haven't got my character sheet with me but I believe Marvin is wearing +1 studded leather already, if that is the case while I would appreciate the upgrade to +1 mithril chain I can imagine that the money would be much better spent on something else. Frankly if I could ge my hands on a buckler it would give me pretty much the same benefit for a much lower cost. And there you have my input so there is no need to cut me out of any loot distribution. I'll see you guys tonight. I should be there around 5 or 5:30 and if you guys want I can grab whoever else is there and we can do the chinese run early so we have can start eating as soon as everyone is there. | | World of Warcraft stole my soul. | Well first time even though I struggled with the decision I feel we did the right thing saving him especially since Westgate is not the most lawful place, but if he gets himself into another similar situation well too bad for you. Migwin’s Diary for Flamerule 8th, in the Year of Wild Magic
We’ve recently raided a Ziggurat on an island full of ghost tigers and uber undead zombies. Our last encounter was with 4 mummies, and lo, they’ve infected 3 of us with their foul mummy rot disease. I am one of the unfortunate ones, as are Grath and Tharnog. I fear it will kill us within a few short days unless a cure is to found in the Ziggurat. I live now only to find and skin me a Tiger-man, unless they can cure us….
So we descend into the darkness below, our new halfling friend, Marvin Thistleburn and Grath search a door and find nothing. Jarjar kicks it open to reveal a room with 3 large stone doors and a rune covered golden platform about 2 inches tall in the centre. Beregon casts detect magic and informs us that the doors are linked to the disc and that the disc summons fire type creatures. We decide to camp and heal while he memorizes the spells needed to defeat it. I send Tweeter back to check on the ship, and he reports all is well. My link with him now allows us to communicate, as if by talking, which will help out tremendously. The night passes uneventfully. In the morning Cedrith casts cure disease which rids us of the mummy rot (I still want some tiger-man skin boots). Some lesser restoration spells and I have my spell powers back.
We continue on back down into the ziggurat. Beregon casts a dispel magic spell to disable the golden disc. Jars finally gets to bash a door. He reveals a room lined with shelves full of scrolls, but the far wall is aflame! Suddenly two large fire elementals appear. Thagnor charges in. The elementals surge forward and ignite the scrolls (damn). Jars goes ballistic. Go-go gadget shield! Beregon gets a snowball swarm off. Marvin tumbles in to flank. I swing and hit it, but a third one appears. I move and hit the third one. Marvin and Beregon start looting the scroll shelves. Grath grabs some and leaves. We dispatch the second one, but now a 4th one appears. Beregon calls for a fighting retreat, but we fight on as it looks we can take them out. Tharnog loses his weapon (klutz), and so does Jars (awww….). He dives forward to retrieve it and makes it through the fire wall. Beregon releases a lightning bolt, and it sounds like it hit Jars, even though we can’t see him. I smack the elemental again. Marvin goes through trying to save him. I’m hit! Twice! I smack the one that hit me and take it out! Marvin jumps back out and utters that Jars is still alive, and then passes out. I barge ahead in an attempt to go through the wall, but it is solid in some areas and I bounce back. There are screams coming from beyond the wall. I dive through and am overwhelmed by fire. I come to after Cedrith pumps me full of healing. I realize that the dwarf has my sword! I RAGE!!!!! Short sword out - stab the elemental! It hits Cedrith. A tiger man appears, steps up to Grath, says/casts something, and disappears with Grath. GRATH NOOOO!!!!! The short sword is doing nothing, so I reach into the fire elemental to get Jars’ greataxe, I am burnt badly, but I manage to smash the last elemental to nothingness. I scream out in victory as everything fades to black……..
I wake the next day feeling well cooked. Beregon informs me this tower was built by extraplanar exiles who used it as a retreat to plot against their exilers. It is about 200 years old and used by the tigermen. Grath is still missing, and Cedrith pumps us full of healing. We decide to head back down – no guts no glory! Beregon does the dispel magic thing, and Marvin picks the locks. We find a room with treasure! While the loot is nice, it won’t replace our missing monkey man. Grath, you were a good friend.

| 1 Belt of Giant Strength,
Many people who want it.
Sounds like a good opportunity to have this be the weekly posting if fun bonus XP extravaganza!
Everyone has 24 hours to post here and say if their character does or does not want the belt. Everyone who posts with a simple yes or no earns 50 XP. Evey Grath can get in on this bonus XP even though he isn't around to claim the belt.
After that the real fun will begin....

| Okay, Jars, Tharnog, and Cedrith get the bonus 50 XP.
Now on to phase 2!
Since only Tharnog and Jars replied that the want the belt now they have until Sunday to post a well thought out arguement for why they deserve the belt and will benefit the party best by having it.
Once both have posted their argument everyone else will have a chance to post their support for the arguements or rebutals if they have them.
More bonus XP to come. | | | |

| It probably makes the most sense to give it to Tharnog since he cannot rage, although having a Barbarian with an extra +4 STR on top of the rage is pretty sweet too.
Pretty much a toss up from the Clerics point of view.
Migwin is a backup frontline fighter so its probably not as benificial to the party for him to have it. | | Champion of Champions (for all races! even Gnomes ) Reference Thread Winnipeg Gryphon Cavalry Forums

| Note, when making your arguements for why you should have the belt include as many reasons, statistics, scenarios, theories, promises, or as much gorilla dust as you think necessary.
Also, there is one special secret arguement point that if anyone hits on will almost be an automatic that they get the belt should they hit upon it. In my opinion anyway.

| | I believe that Tharnog desrves it because as Cedrith says, a fighter cannot rage. That would boost me to a 22 strength which is +6, That would put me with a magical +1 Dwarven War Axe to do +12 base damage. At the momemt when I fully power attacked it would to a base +26/+16. I think that is quite benefcial to the party. As wel when I kill something I have great cleave to kill a whole bunch of things. So feats with that high of strenght I would kill a lot of thing which stating the obvious is a great thing for the party to have. | | SLIPKNOT-WAIT & BLEED SLIPKNOT-(SIC) | |

| Garret, you never hit anything when full power attacking, please use scenarios that are likely to happen.
Also, you mentioned that you have great cleave. Well, yes, yes you do. You also have a *pile* of other feats by now to make up for your damage output, which is only slightly less than mine anyways. And that difference is due to the fact that my weapon is bigger. So really, saying you cannot rage is like my saying I dont have the pile of feats you have, it's silly.
Great cleave by the way is kind of situational. Very rarely does it really come in handy.
Also, and here's a big point...you're higher level than me, which means you allready hit more reliably than I do, That's kind of an important point, no? The belt would make up that difference for me.
Either way, neither of us deserves it, lose the greedy attitude please, it's allready annoyed me enough this week.
Since Migwin wants in on this, a point for him is this, the belt would certainly help put him on more even footing with the rest of us melee types.
It's about trying to keep the party strong, together, not catapaulting yourself up up and away.
Dear lord, this must be what maturity tastes like...bleh!

| Whats with all the sprinkling of Gorillia dust ... I wasn't cremated ya know! I might even still be alive ... I hope anyway GM fait I guess!
To bad I missed out on the 50 XP, oh well! I agree with Kai that Migwin should get it - on the condition that he takes enough lvls of barbarian to rage twice a day! I have a special love for the Barbarian/Sorcerer combo as in the last Nautical Campaign Mike did I almost went that way and wish I did.
Migwin was supposed to be an effective frontline fighter - and he is - but he is quickly losing heft compared to our higher lvl advesaries. By taking a couple levels of Barbarian he not only gets rage twice a day; but, trap sense +1 which stacks with other classes should Scott continue to multi-class. Trap sense makes sense with the departure of our recent Rogue who did a half-good job of finding them ... just until Marvin gets up there! By my count Migwin/Scott wanted to rage at least twice a day in previous encounters - and the temporary increase in hit points of 2 pts/lvl (4 in all after 2 barbarian lvls) would help keep him concious more! Migwin has been knocked out a lot lately - and it is not a lack of wanting to be on the frontline! By comparison Thagnor always stays concious and he is continuing to increase his hit points substantially along with his attack and AC bonus ... if he'd stop losing his stuff!!! Tharnog has lost all his stuff twice now so soon the belt goes bye-bye. Mind you Lannister lost that jewelled scimatar (sorry different campaign). Scott could take 1 more sorcerer lvl to increase the magic he wanted but checking PHB p52 he doesn't get his saves, attack bonus and multiple fighting (incr lvl 12!!!) as much as if he got if he was uping his Barbarian levels. The Barbarian levels increase everything substantially so Migwin would start hitting much harder and staying up longer. Hit DIce D12 versus D4, ouch - no wonder he keeps going down on the frontline at the higher lvls!
In any case, Garret is right he will be an awesome fighting force ... but he already is an awesome fighting force. Why not make another character with the potential to be even better so wehave two really awesome fighting forces?
Don't forget to register Grath's new last name at an official port to honor his memory! And the New Marvel SuperHeroes thread is here!!! Post your new awesome randomly generated heroes there! That and Star Wars are my only RPG fix now! | | Stop monkeying around - thats my job!!!

| Well, Migwin wants the belt of course. Why do I think he should get it, let me list the ways....
1) He's big and strong, and the belt will make him stronger. That means better chances to hit, and more damage, pretty obvious stuff.
2) Migwin like's to grapple, and will soon be throwing his enemies around. With the aide of the belt, he will throw them father for more damage!
3) Migwin sticks around to help his friends (despite themselves sometimes). He almost died last session saving the others. He's a hero!
4) Migwin doesn't have a death wish. Sad to say our other barbarian (a nice guy nonetheless) just seems to be a little reckles, and will get himself killed, eaten, or sliced up, and lose the belt. That would be a setback for the party.
5) Migwin doesn't go drinking while fleeing the local constabulary, resulting in fights whereby local law enforcement officers are getting killed and summarily getting himself sentenced to death, only to rescued by bribery (my sack of potatoes plan was a good plan). That certain party member is bound to lose the item as well.
6) Migwin eats his vegetables.
7) Migwin is pledged to help free his friends brother from slavers.
8) Migwin can attack with his bare hands, so if he loses his weapon, his giant strength powered fist will crush his foes!
9) Migwin is owed an irreplacible family heirloom by a certain other contender for the belt, who should gracefully bow out of the debate and conceed the belt to Migwin as a replacement for his loss. A gesture like that would go a long way to soothing the resentment harboured by Migwin towards the dwarf over the heirloom, as well as his poking and prodding of my spiritual totem Hawk tweeter.
10) Tweeter wants Migwin to have it. Tweet tweet!
11) Nigwin is behind just about everyone else with XP, so a little help would be appreciated.
12) Migwin thinks it would help level the playing feild, so he would be more competant in combat and keep up with the other fighters. It is a team effort, not the adventures of wonderdwarf and sidekicks.
13) And Monkey dust all over! Migwin collected it off of Grath's bunk for good luck. Alas, poor Grath.
So I don't know if I got the secret reason or not, but that's what I though of.

| The DM is kinda feeling this is a Quiznos week.....
Looks like everyone has made their arguements. I award Migwin, Jars, and Tharnog an additional 400 XP.
Now, to decide who had the best arguement for why their character should have the belt. The three participants may not respond but Grath, Cedrith, Beregon, and Marvin must. Analyze their points as you wish, using whatever criteria you feel best and let us know who you think presented the best case for why they should have the belt.

| Quizno's works for me this week.
As to the debate, Jars makes a very good point about power attacking, hitting is more important than doing more damage, since if you dont hit there is no damage. Cutter very rarely power attacked for more than 5 in the last campaign. That gives you +10 damage with a two handed weapon and you still have a decent chance of hitting.
Jars also was the only one to argue for giving it to someone else along with his arguments for keeping it to himself major bonus points in Cedrith's mind.
Migwin also has a number of good points and throwing enemies around could have some interesting results.
My initial thoughts about giving it to Tharnog may have been hasty. Leveling the playing field is probably a good idea, level wise Jars and Migwin are about even I think, so with the bonus points for arguing for someone other than himself Cedrith would award the belt to Jars. | | Champion of Champions (for all races! even Gnomes ) Reference Thread Winnipeg Gryphon Cavalry Forums

Busy weekend of work, so I am behind in posting.
Pizza or Quiznos sounds OK to me for this week.
As to the debate on the belt, Beregon is still thinking. Ask him again tomorrow.

| My mystic powers tell me it is either Mary Tyler Moore show, The Truman show, or Teen Wolf.
There is also these gems:
gorilla dustn. bluffing, posturing, or hollow attempts at intimidation.
Citations: 1986 Warren Brown Washington Post (Dec. 9) “Smith, Perot All Smiles At Encounter” p. D1: More than 7,000 people showed up here today to witness what one business publication billed as a “clash of titans.” But the actual event amounted to little more than a cloud of what one of the combatants called “gorilla dust.” 1998 Hinduism Today (Kapaa, Hawaii) (Aug.) “Is India’s Nuclear Threat Mere Gorilla Dust?”: When two male gorillas confront each other, they’re too canny most of the time to actually fight, so they resort to the tried-and-true political tactic of intimidation. Both scurry about in a frenzy, grimacing menacingly, beating their chests and tossing clouds of dirt into the air. It’s a serious encounter, full of powerful and primitive energies, a test of testosterone. Soon one becomes convinced that the other could win the threatened physical engagement, and retreats. It’s called gorilla dust, and nations stir it up all the time. 2003 Zig Ziglar Ziglar On Selling (July 31) p. 205: The sales professional recognizes false objections as “gorilla dust.” | | "GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff Winnipeg's source for RPGs and minis!" www.gameknight.ca

| Oh well in that case - am I embrassed! Although I don't think I would get the Gorillia dust reference ... not a chance! And you know I was kiddin! The joke was on me of course!
My response to who had the best argument for why they should get the belt
Rob's response above is excellent and I agree with the entire thing ... except ... while I want to give Jars the win (cause it is quite impressive to argue for someone else other than yourself) - Mike's challenge or win criteria is "who had the best argument for why they should get the belt" - they referring to themselves. Jars is arguing for someone else and not for himself so technically speaking he should be disqualified as a contender (which he never asked to be in the first place I suppose - also noble) I suppose we could forget about the technicality and just look at his overall good argument. Let's get back to that shall we?
I am not voting for Tharnog's argument because of 2 reasons. It is short for one - which is okay if their points prove themselves out. If the points do not hold water than you need a longer argument so that your still in the debate. Jars refute's every single one of Garrets' points and goes further in stats and reason and decides he doesn't want the belt to show Garret that ... you don't always have to get what you desire (I guess you think better when your motivated! just saying!)
Migwin's argument is much more entertaining and friendily! It is generally neutral towards others and site's some pretty good reasons why he should get the belt. I would say better character/game reasons in Migwin's arguement which I preferred. And his argument meets Mike's original challenge .... but .... Mike did want stat reasons ... which Jars provided!
So ... after longwinded not getting to the point Nico ... I think Jars did have the best argument for someone else getting the belt. And I do think that the belt should go to either Jars or Migwin for sure (sorry Garret, you'll get something else!) I think Migwin should get the belt to better round off the party & make him less behind. ... although Jars would make excellent use of it also to better round off the party! | | Stop monkeying around - thats my job!!!

| Hello,
I have to admit that I did not know the Gorilla Dust reference either, but hey.
As to the belt debate. Beregon almost wonders if it would have been better for the party to never find the belt in the first place.
That said, now that we have it, what to do with it.
Maybe we should re-think the entire thing and give the belt to Beregon so that he can go hand to hand in combat!
Back to the arguments at hand. Well, Beregon feels a kinship with Migwin after all of that time as slaves together, and Migwin does tell a good story and make a convincing argument. Jars has shown some selflessness by offering up the belt to another, a very noble act which speaks in his favour as well. Beregon has to admit that Tharnog seems to be a bit greedy at present. His only argument seems to be that he will kill more things with the belt, but he seems to forget that he has been missing more than hitting lately.
So, in Beregon's opinion it comes down to Migwin or Jars.
Certainly Migwin would benefit in combat from the belt and give the party 2.5 frontline fighters. It would also help out Migwin catch up to the party in power considering his troubles with showing up. On the other hand, Jars would up his damage and attack more as well.
All that said, Jars seems to want to give the belt to Migwin, and Migwin provided a pretty convincing argument (with some amusing anecdotes) for taking it, so Migwin it is.
Cheers
