| Yeah, the wife and I were there on...Sunday me thinks. I bought another three packs of Duelmasters and got a third Crystal Lancer. I'm pumped for Kyle Duelmaster's invitational. I wanna whup some butt.
Anyway, she and I conversed at length with Pate and Jason about tons of things. I'm glad that folks are showing interest in DDM. I created a "general announcement" flyer and dropped it off at their store for them to post up talking about the organizing we're doing. Hopefully, that is driving interest, and by showing up with some casual play and eventual tournaments we can drive that interest home to new players.
I told P & J that my plan is to hold a tournament on Sunday, the 31st at their store. I'm planning on making it a 500 point extreme match. That'll shake some things up and get people really excited to come in and do something different. I'll let the players know on the 16th as a heads up...and hopefully you slickdog will help get folks excited! [:)]
Oh cool. I just realized that I have gone past 50 posts and am now ranked a Knight, no longer a Squire. Sweet!!! Doesn't seem like it's been that many posts. I'm becoming a total geek.

| It is confirmed. The Gaming Pit officially recognizes the Gwinnett Gamers Guild membership cards as discount ready on D&D Minis purchases in their store.
Additionally, the Schlotzsky's next door provides a discount to gamers coming from next door. Saves a couple bucks in both cases and adds up to some jingle in the long run.

| Sorry I haven't been posting for awhile... my internet has been down. So, here's a quick update.
It might not have been the head of minatures... probably was the head of boardgaming. I'm definitely interested in running DDM at DC, with or without a staff badge; a staff badge will just help me save money. (For what it's worth, I was a staff member for over 8 years, starting in 1985. (Yes, two years before the first con.)) I used to run Car Wars, nowadays I run just about everything.
Logan and I will be up there for the game on the 16th. Neither of us can afford the prerelease.
Skirmishing up at the Gaming Pit involves two things... directions and time. What time on Saturdays, is this a regular thing, how long does it last, and how the heck do I get there?

| Directions to The Gaming Pit:
Exit 1-85 at Pleasant Hill Rd. Head south on Pleasant Hill (away from Gwinnett Place Mall). Go about 1/2 a mile or so until you see a Publix shopping center on the right (about three lights down). The Gaming Pit is at the end of the Publix shopping center next to Schlotsky's.
No set time, we'll play it by ear for now. Whenever you want to head up there just let us know.

Hey Shaunnon,
To add on to the directions that Sean posted for The Gaming Pit, you want to hang a right on Sweetwater. It's a light. The light directly after it is called Club Drive, technically you could get to TGP from Club Drive as well. It should be closer for both you and the Loganmeister.
Sean and I have decided to begin running every other organized tournament at The Gaming Pit. The owners are gamers themselves and are very supportive of the organized play we've facilitated.
If, and only if TGP can be sanctioned by WoTC on time will we hold a tournament at their facilities on Sunday, yes a Sunday...the 31st. We'd likely do the same as always and register from 11-11:30 AM and then begin shortly after. The 31st is tentative.
The tournament this weekend (16th) is still set for the Galactic Quest in Buford. Same times as described above.

Hey CG,
We have an organized tournament going on this Saturday the 16th at the Galactic Quest in Buford. You'll likely be in town during the week, so just let us know what dates you'll be here and what part of Atlanta. I'll see if a couple of us can meet you somewhere to skirmish a bit. Our local metagame has got to be the most screwed up thing you'll ever play against. People try anything here.

| You mean the doctor? [:(] Seriously, the reason I didn't show up for the GQ tournament was that I was sick... I just did not think that I could make it up there safely after my sleepless night. So, I slept in. If I could have cancelled my roleplaying games this weekend, I would have. (We've got a two to three week break coming up, and I didn't want to disappoint my players.)
Logan, I know, had business that he had to take care of today, so he didn't go to any tournaments, either. Sorry about us not showing, guys... I would have been there health permitting.
On a better note, my 35th birthday party is next Saturday, at my house, starting at 2 pm. There will be lots of people there playing all sorts of games, including DDM. If the group up there wants to drop in and hang with us, you're more than welcome. (You might have to bring chairs and tables... sometimes these events can get pretty big. I think the last one I had was 20 people.) If anyone is interested in showing up, please drop me an email, (the addy is in my profile,) to get directions and my phone number.
I'm planning on being there on the 31st, but it's going to be interesting... I'm not sure how much sleep I'll get the night before. Logan is thinking about showing as well.
One last thing... we had a big turnout for War Room on the past Friday... Six people! Of those six, two had never played the game before, and are now both actively looking to get into skirmishing; they really enjoyed the game. (One guy, in particulay, loved my dwarf army... 32 AC all the way!) Our War Room group seems to be slowly growing, as interest in DDM seems to be picking up there.

| Well, if you check the prerelease tournament thread in the skirmish forum, you'll see that MarkDragon showed up there... they had 6, count 'em, 6 people show. From the looks of things, all of the Atlanta players, except for Mark, didn't show. Just out of curiousity, how many players were at the tournament this past weekend?

| That is awesome, only 6. We had 8 at our tournament, 9 if you include me, but I didn't play since we had an odd number. It was cool being judge guy, but everyone asked me like a thousand times more questions than normal b/c I was available at a whim. Only one question about Melee Reach came up, but after scouring the FAQ I interpreted what I think was the proper ruling. Sean, Chad and I at least feel like we got it covered.
That is so cool that we had more people and it wasn't even like we had any super special prizes or anything. Ha, Ha! (triumphantly)
Hope you feel better Shaunnon.

| | I'm exceptionally excited for the 500-point Extreme tournament on the 31st, b/c I'll be itching to use my new Angelfire minis. There are so many high costed minis in the set, that I'll be able to make some great use out of them. | | | |

| DragonCon Update #2
As of now, there are no plans to run an organized tournament at DragonCon this year. I will not submit an event and run anything, b/c you literally have to commit to 5 sessions (4 hours apiece) to hold events. I don't want my first DragonCon to be something that rigid. I want to be flexible and be able to pick up games. It means I have to pay, but so what.
You're on your own for now Shaunnon. Sorry man. I can get you my contact's information if you'd like to contact him yourself. Just let me know.
Sean/Shaunnon, are either of you interested in coordinating a day when a group of us show up at DC together?

| I built three different 500 point warbands yesterday as hopefuls for the tournament this Sunday at The Gaming Pit. My wife tested two of them with me last night and totally stomped me. [:0] She won on time and it wasn't even a close game. In fact, with about 10 more minutes, she could have completed dessimated my warband.
Hopefully tonight, we'll test the victor against my other idea. I just hope she doesn't wail on me again.

Plus I know it is 500pt assault but are you doing 500pts no huge so we can easier use the normal map or do you have enough of the huge maps (Lost Temple)?

| I know that you can download the Lost Temple mat from WoTC, but I'm not forking $ out of my pocket to print & laminate them, so people will just have to deal with using tiles and the standard mat.
When determining tile placements, you must allow for three space between walls, including the outer edge of the battlemat. It's 500 points, 8 figures max (not counting minions or summons of course), and there is no single creature point limit.
That's everything, I think. Just make sure you bring all the normal stuff, and we'll go from there.

| What about the assembly tiles that can't be placed three spaces away, such as the rubble tile? Are they illegal, because they can't cover the exit squares, or are they legal, just use the exit squares on the map instead of the tile?

Additionally, I contacted a guy on the D&D Message Boards and get this, he was at TGP this past Sunday doing Mechwarrior while I was running our D&D Minis Tournament. He wants to play as well.

I'm thinking about scheduling a couple more 200 point tournaments the weekends of Sat. the 21st, and Saturday the 27th at The Gaming Pit. With all the new Angelfire minis, I'm dying to skirmish more.
