I'd be up for some dreamblade sealed I guess if we can get enough people committed for a tournament. We'd be using the new set I assume? Night fusion or something like that.

| I was just thinking about what Stormtrooper Steve was saying last Saturday about a huge Battle of Hoth Star Wars minis event.....I for one am interested. Anyone else?
I know everybody has lots of Hoth pieces now, and I have 3 Snowspeeders and an AT-AT, Steve has a couple, I think....lots of Turrets, Speeders, AT-ATs, AT-STs, Snowtroopers, etc....
I think this should be like a team thing, at least 2 players per side and at least 1000 pts.
Any ideas? | | | |

Any ideas? Certainly an idea worth looking into. I haven't had a chance to look over what scenarios come in the Battle Pack yet and how they would play.
I want to finalize the January schedule soon, there was one "free" SWM slot that was penciled in for a non-sanctioned 200 point tournament. That could be changed, another possiblity is a Sealed event.
I've also been working on an idea for a Star Wars minis League, Rebels & Imperials themed.
It would run 6 sessions, 2 each at 100, 150, and 200 points.
Players would buy into the League during the first session by purchasing a booster of their choice (obviously one where they'd have a chance to get a good number of Rebel or Imperial units). Based on what they pull they would have to decide if they're going to represent the rebelion or the empire throughtout the League. Once they decide which faction they want to play players will have the option to trade the minis they won't or can't use to other players.
Alternatively we could do the first session as a draft, allowing players to select minis from the faction they want more readily.
Once a faction is chosen (Rebels/Imperials) all the League minis you own from said faction must be put into your warband if possible. Any Fringe units you own may be added as well at your discretion. Whatever points you have reamining in the warband may be rounded out with commons or uncommons from your own collection.
At the start of each session players will either buy a new regular booster or perhaps a mini Rebels & Imperials pack, have the option to trade what they're not going to use, and then add the new minis to their warbands.
Games would be played with the standard tournament rules. I will use a points system similar to the new DDM League to deterime the rankings. Each loss, draw, or bye earns a player 1 point. Each win earns them 2 points, but to go with the R&I theme each win against their opposed faction counts for double (4 points).
Final prizes to be awarded based on your place in the fianl point standings.
Let me know what you think.

| @ MJ - Funny you should mention a SWM League, as I was thinking about that earlier today. My thought was to do it like the first minis league, where 2 boosters were bought, and each new session you could buy an (optional) new booster to add guys to your pool of minis (16 figures), dropping the figures you didn't want.
The new points system works for ranking wins /losses and overall scoring. I like the booster idea better as it keeps things a little more balanced as far as some people having large collections and some not. Luck of the draw factors in with this, but after the first 2-3 sessions everyone should have some good figures.
It just occured to me that the boosters only have 7 figures, and I guess your pool would be 14 figures, unless we raised the "buy-in" to 3 boxes of boosters, players choice, and set the figure limit at 16 (or 20 or 21).
Another idea would be to "draft" a prize booster into your pool, except the rares (again, helps keep balance). This would allow you to add more commons and uncommons without having to buy a booster to do so. I say to leave the rares out because if one person gets ahead, he'll get more rares and continue to get further ahead. That way the winner of a tourney will have to decide to take the rare for his collection because it has more value, or the best uncommon to add to his pool of figures to better his chances in the overall league.
If you want to go rebels and imperials, that could be kind of limiting and complicate things, but perhaps after session 2 or 3 the players can choose between light side and dark side, with fringe making up the balance of your squad.

It was considered, an option I could go with if everyone's picks are more or less the same but so far there's a reasonable amount of variety in them so everyone should get one of their top 2 for the first pass.
The plan is to keep it random now.

Thoughts? The opposite side of that is going with the buying boosters route favors those with bigger wallets. I think that was the failing of the first League, just the thought that you might have to buy boosters to stay competative kept some people away.
The last two sets have pretty much been entirely Rebels and Imperials so I don't see that being too limiting. They are the two dominant factions in the game anyway.

| I've redone my commander sheet. No major changes, a couple things got shuffled around to I think take better advantage of Mike's goal to not get us two commanders of the same faction. But the main reason was to weed out the lowest of the low, the horriblest commanders ever, so without further ado, my five worst commanders:
139 Lord of Blades 140 Champion of Yondalla 141 Elf Ranger 142 Human Cleric of Bane 143 Valorous Prince
Honourable mention to the Grim Necromancer, but he's bad for the same reasons that the human cleric of bane is bad, so I only included one.

Speaking of the League so far I have draft sheets for 12 players, 2 or 3 more signed up yet to submit their sheets. All draft sheets are due next Saturday, the commanders will be assigned that evening.
Those who don't get their sheets in on time or want to join late are welcome to do so, they'll just select their commanders from what's left.
The first League session will be Saturday January 12th.

| Hi DDMers. I have a small problem. I only have 2 boosters of DoD in stock for tonight's sealed tourney. There was what I thought was a full case in the hallway waiting for tonight, but it turns out it wasn't full of DoD boosters. Someone had put some other miscellaneous minis in it that wouldn't fit on the new stand.
Sorry for the mix up.
Options: 1) Pick two other boosters - I have lots of Night Below, Unhallowed, and I'd be willing to put out a case of DeathKnell as well. 2) Change the format to 200 points, sanctioned. 3) Play a DreamBlade sealed with half priced boosters 4) Reschedule to later, say next week, and play 500 points today (might be a headache for the DCI folks) 5) Cancel, and have a night of casual play DDM with no prizes or sanctioning.
I'm open to suggestions also.

| You're running three league sessions in the month? If you do, I think I'd tend to shuffle them a bit. You've got 3 sessions in 12 days, and then a gap of 16 days till session 4, assuming session four would be the second saturday in february (the 9th). I'd be inclined to make them January 5th, 19th, and 31st. That's roughly two weeks in between each and then 10 days till the first one in february.
Other than that I like it. I like the non sanctioned sealed game, I like the 1000 point game (c'mon everyone show up pleeeeeease?), and I like all the 200 pt games.

| Those are the only 2 Saturdays I'm not working in January so they have to be the dates. I could flip flop the Epic game on the 31st from the League session.
Right now I think the February League schedule might roughly be the 2nd, 12th, and 23rd.
Either way it's going to be a tight League, 9 sessions run over 12 or 13 weeks.

I guess you're trying to get the league finished before DDM 2.0 debuts at the end of march/beginning of april?

| What's says love more than D&D minis?
Like I said, roulghly that. I haven't really taken a look at February yet.
But yes, the feedback I was getting was that people wanted a shorter span between sessions and to have it done before the new rules start to take hold.
Right now I'm figuring it'll be 8 regular sessions, 3 thursdays and 5 saturdays, and the 9th session will be the all important finals.

We have to play the same warlord (and warband) for all three sessions? Incorrect. Player's are allowed to switch to their other commander after a loss during a league session. They must choose to make the switch before the pairings are anounced for the next round. Once a change is made they must play the new commander for the rest of the session.
If you win you keep playing with the same commander until the next League session.
For the finals no commander switching will be allowed. Choose your commander wisely.
As a side note here's a reminder that after the 4th League session players will have the option of trading in their two commanders for any 1 remaining commander starting from the bottom of the standings and going up.

I wouldn't bet on it, but I'm gonna slap together a warband and head on down. I might not get their until a bit after 1 though, depending on how long the slapping takes.
