| | well....I think its interesting...but....well....why would we be going there? How does bring us closer together? It could just be the same as being in the city. No one knows why we're there. I have an idea. I don't think that anyone else would like it. i don't think that you would like it either. I bring this up way too much. Restart. Sort of. We keep our characters, but we all come up with a way that we are linked. Church of sorra is good, but it is two dimensional. We need a patron. Someone to tell us to go with the dwarf. We also need backstory. We all trained at the same monastary or something...but fleshed out a little better than that. | | Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light.--Dylan Thomas

Hmmmm....I see what you mean. But why does your character do anything now? Who knows except you? Do you want a total restart at 1st level again or just a meshed party? Both? I will probably send out an email to everyone about this afterwards for possible meshing links. | | I am a leaf on the wind...Urrk!!--Wash, "Serenity" | |

| It's been getting harder I think for anyone to get invested in a character. Personally I attribute this to a few factors;
1) The rise in characetr death, at least two a week is crazy. This is happening though not because of CR problems or "killer-DM" syndrome as would be the case in most groups where this happens, but really it's a side affect of the, "who cares about this guy" attitude that spreads through the group. I'm incredibly busy at work lately, and my interest in spending my unwinding time developing a character that will die at an allies hands within two weeks is nil.
...
I changed my mind, it's not a few factors, it's all different sides of the same factor. I miss the days when if you were the guy with a certain specialty then the magic item that matched it was yours, not the first guy to reach the body.
I started trying to revert to old habits last session, no list to pass around, rather a "it makes sense you take this" attitude. I swear if this doesn't work out my next character will take some kind of vow of poverty just so I can stay out of the distribution process.
Honestly, I have been expecting the party to get itself wiped out through it's lack of union. Which would lead to a restart, and hopefully a more unified party. Sadly even that is only a temporaary solution unless people adopt a more "generous" view of their companions.
The worst part is the contagious trend selfish attitudes take. When no one watches your back, you don't watch anyone elses. Despite my characters bad aim (sorry Brian) I'm trying to maintain a bit of Sorra Unity, and started as charitably as possible with Daryl and Ray's new characters. It's too bad the medic died so quick, I thought he would be pretty cool.
I don't know if there's any point in saying any more, I'll just repeat myself at this point. | | "We can't stop here...This Is Bat country!"

I just finished filling it out, that's fine and dandy for developing your own character, how much it helps other people be interested in your character we'll have to see. | | "We can't stop here...This Is Bat country!"

| here it is...
What is your characters full name? -per-aa Sobekhotep sa-re Sebek-Aha pa-sheri iri-ntjr-Sebek. Hey, you asked. His offical full name, short form, would be Sobekhotep Sebek-Aha, but most outlander barbarians just call him Sebekhan, a corruption of his birth name (Sobekhotep is a family name). Literally translated, his full name (Not including his hidden true name of course!), means 'Fighting Crocodile, son of Fighting Crocodile, of the great house Sobekhotep, gaurdian of the god Sebek.' You gotta love the internet...
How tall is he? What is his body type? -6' 5". Very tall. He is not over-muscled, more definition than bulk, but obviously not a weakling either. His skin is tanned brown.
What color are his eyes? -Black. Lids usually shaded with black paint as is the custom.
What color and style is his hair? -Shaves his head bald, though if he let it grow back, it would be black.
Why does your character adventure? -For the glory of the great river god! His temple is following up rumours of the awakening of some vampiric barbarian servitors of a now-extinct (?) dynasty of Haij vampire rulers. Sebekhan is a champion of the temple, and so he has been moving steadily north looking for confirmation.
What is your characters greatest dream? -To see the great house of Sobekhotep risen up to rule all the civilized lands of the world in the name of the mighty river gods! To become a high priest of the faith and support his family's ambitions from within the priesthood.
What is his deepest regret? -Regret is for the weak! As a child of a noble house, and then a priest of a permissive religion, he has pretty much whatever he wants back home. Some day he wants to wed and start an extension to his family, but its hard to obtain a wife of proper breeding. Everything becomes a political negotiation.
Any fears or notable habits? -He fears he will be found wanting in the eyes of the mighty river gods. He comes off as slightly lecherous, but his society, especially his religion, is more permissive then most. He is used to being obeyed by inferiors, but bites his tongue while up north. Unintentionally condescending. Will offer prayers/curses to the other gods too, after all, they are all related.
How did your character come by his magical gear or other special equipment? -Every last stick was awarded by the priesthood, to their temple champion. As an alchemist, he has had a personal hand in making some of his more esoteric equipment.
Does your weapon have a name? What is it and why? -His armour is called The Iri-Sobek, the crocodile gaurdian.
What does your character like doing when he is not adventuring? -Lazing about in the sun, eating, women, alchemical experiments, praying to Sebek.
What does he dislike doing and why? -Physical labour. Combat training is one thing, but manual labour is beneath him. That is what slaves are for after all!
Is his family still alive and what do they do? -He has a large extended family, which is a noble house of the kingdom. Though largely involved in the priesthood of Sebek, they are also into river shipping (spice, slaves, bronze, rice, fish), and the renting out of mercenary forces (infantry only) and weapons (mostly through the temple, to avoid the watchful gaze of the rulers of the nation). Several siblings are in the priesthood, but the eldest directly runs the family affairs in the name of the father.
What god does he worship and why? -The cult of Sebek, the mighty river god, is a southern version/avatar/servant of a more powerful standard god, currently unnamed (whatever seems to fit Luke... a water god? Didn't see one...). His family has alwyas worshipped the river and the crocs within it. He has always been in awe of them, and now he has become one himself! Muhahaha!
Briefly describe your characters clothing or armor (color, shiny or beat up, style, oramentation, etc.) -When not in armour, he is bundled up in local clothing, over which he has layered the black and red robes of his faith. He is always well kept in any case. His armour is made of heavy black leather with black scales and plates. The spikes appear made of aged horn. Its is full armour, very meanacing looking, The helm has twin horns turning down and forward, much like a black dragon.
Give me a quote your character would say. "You will suffer an eternity of pain in Tuat for your blasphemous ways! The river gods demand a sacrifice!"

| At this point my descision will probably be made by weather.
So what's Sunday's deal? I'm good with doing something other than the usual game if that's what's cooking. Though if it turns out to be video games on Daryl's TV my attendance may peter out as my allergies peter in. | | "We can't stop here...This Is Bat country!"
