| Well, I got work done on my storeroom last night and 1 quick game in with Jory at the end of the night.
I updated the gameday thread. If you are planning to come please check it out. I'm still looking for a few more volunteers for some games. I'm also looking for players to sound off on which games they are playing. | | "GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff Winnipeg's source for RPGs and minis!" www.gameknight.ca

| I'll be out as well. Hopefully I'll avoid getting hammered into the ground tonight. Didn't have time to put together a new warband, so we'll have to go with the same one as last week.
Fortunately, ebay will be providing some reinforcements in a couple of weeks. Hopefully in time for the December 8th tournament.
Rob, which two were you still looking for to complete your base set?

| 5 people out for Dreamblade tonight (Rob, Richard, Nico, Scott, and Paula), not too shabby for a quickly thrown together tournament. Paula was the winner going 3-1 plus a bye so congradulations to her.
Let's hope to see everyone out for the 200 point Sanctioned D&D game tomorrow. The first chance to play the new Blood Wars minis in a constructed event.

| Yo all, I've been thinking, (I know what the answer probably is, but why not ask?) all of you minis hot-shots have been running demos and are pretty much judges, so why can't I run a demo or something? I know the rules pretty much as well as some of you hot-shots, yet no one asks me! The Troll needs a little love here!

| For what it's worth, I might be leaving DDM. I've been substituting my DDM time for time with friends and anime. I just haven't been coming for a while and when I did I didn't get the fun rush I used to be having.
p.s. Icetroll, don't call me about me selling my collection. I'm not quitting yet. | | Disipline is the only way to overcome chaos. Champion of Half-Golems Knight of Golems "This world is made for love and peace" - Trigun "anyway..shadow..you've figured women out. KUDOS." - raye_kino16

| Overall the game day was lots of fun, I had a good time with my 3 Dragon ante demo and won the DBM edge tournament, with my only loss to Paula.
the new tables and chairs are great too.

| The DDM scene has been a little down over the past couple months, attendance just isn't where is use to be. I think WotDQ wasn't very good for the skirmish scene, the 2-3 must play or you lose minis from that set made the game less fun. Hopefully Blood Wars injects a little life back into the scene.
Still, it wouldn't hurt to get a little conversation going on what we can do to boost attendance and make it more fun for everyone. Should we have more themed games? More or less sanctioned games?
I've been toying with the idea of starting a D&D minis league for a while, maybe playing once a month. WOuld anyone be interested in that?
Here's what I'm thinking for a format. Each player starts out with 2 boosters of their choice to build their warband like in a Sealed event. In each game you play you are allowed to build a 200 point warband from the minis in your booster, essentially if we did three matches in a night you could play with three slightly different warbands.
Each month the players would have the opertunity to buy a new booster and add it to the pool of potential minis for their warband. When you add the 8 new minis that player must remove 8 minis from his warband pool so no player has more than 16 minis to work with. Buying a new booster each month would be optional though.
I think it could be a lot of fun but let me know what you all think.

| I like the idea. We did a league thing a couple of years back and it proved successful at first. It was out of the minis handbook, and it started off with a 50 point warband. As your got more play, it grew in point size to 100, then 150 and so on. There were rules to make your commander more powerful as the game progressed. And magic items your character could get if he defeated a foe with one, and so on. I don't have a copy of the book, but I suppose I could order one.
I like the pool idea. The only problem I see is if someone gets a totally awesome combo, it could be unbalacing. But I suppose they could be voted off the island!!!
Which set of minis would be used? Blood wars? Or any set? What about when you add a booster?
Once a month shouldn't be a problem. Would it be Thursdays or Saturdays? Another day maybe? Could it be 1 game every week before the regular games start (or after)?
Should we sanction it? I guess it is technically limited. It might be easier to leave the sanctioning out other than maybe to "kick off" the league.
When would it start and run until? Fixed time or open?

| Well I was thinking it could be any set the player wishes to purchase. Possibly it could be a good use of one of those Deathknell cases you're sitting on. We could set it to being just Blood Wars or something else entirely.
Having someone get an advantage with lucky pulls is always a risk in a limited event but I'm thinking over time it will balance out as people get to add a new booster to their pool of 16.
Sanctioning the kickoff wouldn't be a bad way to go assuming enough people are interested.

| There is also the way that wizards does leagues at the big cons.
You start out by buying a booster and a starter. Thats your pool.Â
Then each time you play a league game, each player gets a roll (2 for the winner, pick the best roll) to pick a new mini from the organizers collection of prize minis that they can add to the pool. Going with 2 boosters to start would be fine too.
And the option to add an additonal booster once a month would be ok while removing 8 figures from your pool would be an interesting twist.
Does the 8 minis removed from the pool have to be all older figs or could you dump minis from the new box too?

| | I think the option of which minis you keep in the pool would be up to you. So when you open the new booster you have the option of adding any of the minis to your pool of 16. Once the decision has been made to remove minis from your pool or to not include ones from the new booster that decision is final. | | | |

| Some other thoughts I have to keep the league interesting and prevent a lucky draw from dominating.
Losers of games could be allowed to retool their warband between matches to hopefully produce a better result.
Within in the league we could change the point format from time to time, possibly one month would feature a 100 point event or possibly a non-standard amount like 150 or 300. Who knows, if everyone is lucky enough to have an epic mini in their pool we could do 500 points.
Other ways to go to shake things up might be doing a night where you can only use your comons and uncommons. Or where the 8 figure limit is abandoned.

| Remember back in the day when we did the quasi league here at the store and almost everyone went with snig and the thayan knight. that is going back a few years now. <- i should have read scott's post before saying that.
i would love to do a league style. grab your commander, and he is always your commander which will level up and get better with your wins. i don't know though it's not like i can come out on a lot of thursdays, but for something like that i would love to come out. that way i could at least make use of all the minis i have bought since starting here.
it would be really nice to not only have the 16 mini limit, but maybe do it magic style where you have a sideboard. minis that aren't really in the 16 figure pool, but that can be brought in if you think it will help your warband, again it could be from a new booster that you buy or whatever. | | Knight of Ni Jay(Clerks 2) - would you "bleep" me?...i would "bleep" me...i would "bleep" me hard
