| Good session last night. We didn't quite finish the dungeon but then again the dungeon didn't finish you either. Almost though.....
As we discussed last night since 2 people won't be there next week we'll take the night off. Lots of time for you to figure out how to get to that now well defended chest.
Let the planing commence.

| Great session Mike. I'll get the chronicling done shortly - Nico time!
I think Scott had the right idea. Lets make some sort of twisting lever that gradually seperates the spikes. Then wedge in a whole lot of wood.
Maybe someone can ride back to town and get 2 potions of gaseous form??? | | Pounce goes the cat!!! Felix the Flounder strikes! All heed the Drunken Paladin who performs comedy!!!

| Hello,
I too would agree with the Gaseous Form plan, if we could afford it. We can't afford it, however, so what else can we do?
I have a few things I have thought about:
1) Brute Force Squashdown method - The trap appears to be spring loaded. We find some extra timber or rope (or both) and force the spikes and the floor they are attached to back down 10 feet. Then we can do the bridge thing again and get the loot. With the trap already sprung we should have no issues with it going off again. As an alternate, I can also learn Tenser's Floating Disk as one of my spells for 2nd level and get the chest on the disk to fly it back over the pushed down spikes if no one wants to walk across.
2)Â Brute Force Bending method - As already suggested, find rope and large levers and bend a path through the bars.
3) Finesse Reduction method - Find a way to flood the pit that the spikes come out of to force the floor back down as per method #1. Might need some brute force as well.
4) Electrolysis method - Flood the pit that the spikes come out and then apply an electrical charge (which I can create). The resulting electrified water increases the rate of rusting on the spikes, which then allows us to snap them off or bend them.
5) Magic Acid method - Beregon and Migwin load up on Acid Splash for all of our cantrip spell slots. Using the acid splashes we cut a path through the spikes to the chest so that someone can walk through. I think this method would likely take around 3 days (depending on how many spikes we have to cut through). Just my guess, but with a 10 foot section of floor and spikes that are 3" apart we have a row of 3 spikes per foot (with the spikes at least one inch thick, we can only fit 3 in per foot). This makes 30 spikes to cut through. At 10 acid splashes per day as a minimum (unless we use 1st level spell slots as well, which adds more) then we create a 6 inch wide passage fairly quickly. One tree branch as a balance beam and we are through.
I will be able to provide an even better plan once we have some more information from the great DM. I need to know configuration of the room, if the floor leaks, etc. My Knowledge - Architecture and Engineering skill will allow me a better idea of how to proceed, as will the stonecunning of the dwarf.
Hope you guys can consider some of theses and get back to me.
Cheers

| I don't know the exact treasury, but we would need 2 potions to make the plan work, as the user would have to solidify to get the treasure and then turn to gas again to get back (unless they can disarm the trap and reset it, but we have no guarantee of that).
We might be able to afford one potion, but not two.
I suspect we are looking at 150 to 300 gp per potion (don't have the DMG right at hand).
Cheers

| The floor of the dungeon at this point isn't really leaking although everywhere is pretty much damp. If there is anything specifically you'd like some info on let me know.
You figure you could get the potions if you traded the magic dagger the question is would it be worth it......

| Hello,
Any further feedback on the various options for the trap (well, getting the treasure actually)?
@ Mike,
How thick and rusted do the spikes in the pit trap appear?
Any other visual things I can easily detect by looking at the trap (without a check, which I can make next time in session)?
Cheers

| | Each spike, more or less a long steel bar is a little over an inch in thickness. From what you can tell they are wedged into the ceiling above about an inch or so. | | | |

Any word on if you'll be at Beer Club and if you'll have an employee to work next Wednesday night?

| I have a Lord of the Rings risk, virgin board, never been played. Also have Histories of Catan Rome, played for about 1 hour that is also fun.
I'm game with painting minis. Anyone who wants to can help me paint up some Warhammer minis.
