| This is really cool that we are on a site for a major con!!!
Thanks to Ratty and Ian!
Well as the event is less then 2 weeks away, I'm sure we will find out more about what everyone is bringing and what types of prizes will be there, but some surprises would be great!
As for the boosters, just remember we need to have 200 point boosters to make sure hte pods for the draft are fair. We'll decide when we see exactly how many are playing. The goal is to stick with pods of 4, and we'll do our darndest to stick to that.

| So how does this whole pod thing work. We do the draft then play each person in the Pod. What happens after that.

| Draft with a Pod of 4, the description for Drafting is in the new floor rules available over on the WotC site.
First round matchup's will be from your pod, but after that, we'll repair with winners playing winners, and the losers playing the other losers, just like any other swiss tournament.

Steve you are the man!! Thanks for thinking of me - but it is just Vintage that I need into... got my WD already.

Weird, oh well, I think most people that missed stuff missed the Vintage as opposed to the prerelease. When you first put it i thought you meant they had added 70 to 120, and my jaw dropped. | | Im out- find me on Hordelings if you want to chat.

| I thought it was bumped up to 70, but now it seems to be only bumped up to 50.

| | I have 14 maps printed so far - 7 were laminated. The plotter ran out of paper. I'll be purchasing another roll this week and print off some more. I plan to bring at least 20 copies to the tournament. | Chad I also printed 3 copies, to cover George, Josh and myself. What print rez are you using for yours? I've done one in Final and the other two in draft... final version is for me - richer colors, but the Draft versions don't look bad?

Very good point. It makes sense that the number then shows up as 50, and sold out immidiately. Well then we can hope that some will not use and some of the people who really want to can get in. We will have to watch for next year, if they do this again we will have to sign up fast as they sold out fast. | | Sean Banks Champion of Elementals Official Organizer Gen Con 05 maxminis Event | Winterfantasy 06 maxminis Event | Gen Con 06 maxminis Event | Winterfantasy 07 Community Event

| So I was just on consupport and taking a look at the events. It would appear that there are still only 2 sold out events for minis. Also it seems that there is no number i nthe Maxminis event list, so I know it is 30, but maybe we can creep up to 40.
How many people plan on playing league at Winterfantasy? I'm just curious as to numbers.
Well with about a week and a few days to go, everything looks set for the Maxminis Draft. According to the RPGA site, it looks like it starts at 8am on Thursday.
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=rpga/conventions/wf-ddm
I'm not sure how accurate that is, tho. Everything else I've seen has league games starting after lunch. I might be there at 8am just in case. [:)] | | Champion of the Thoqqua

My question exactly. I bought tickets to the hotel early, so I had to pay for me WD prerelease. The latecomers get it for free! What's up with that? Someone ought to write a parable about it [:)].

| Pat, Mark: I think you guys are out of luck... I might be way off base, but I think that they weren't selling the hotel rooms the way they had promised, so they put out the incentive. That means that likely, they weren't looking to reward those who had already committed, rather they were trying to incentify MORE people to get into the hotel.
Let me know how you make out though!

| 8 Figs worked fairly well at GenCon to speed up play, and the only problems that I heard about it were in the pods that had to many Dragoneye or Aberrations boosters. We've taken those out of the running, so 8 figs should work fine.
I'd advocate no commander = speed 2, though I'm willing to listen if the masses feel otherwise.

| | I vote 8 figures and no commander = speed 2. I am still hesitant to change the command rules until WarDrums is out. Maybe it is as simple as everyone has been saying, but one thing I like about DDM is commanders so making them less important is bad IMHO. | | Charles AKA The Beardless One, Proud Member of Team Amish | |

| The "no commander = full speed" rules were designed to incorporate both limited and constructed events. If you ask me they're actually PERFECT for limited events. How many times have you been in a sealed or draft tournament with only a wussy commander or no commadner at all? If it doesn't kill your movement, you enjoy the game a lot more if you end up stuck in that unfortunate situation.
The ruleset isn't that complex, and we'll have the designers, and guys with full knowledge of the rules right there to help. I say we grab the bull by the horns, and make the draft process much less aversive to folks with no commander.

| From Wizards:
Many have asked exactly what vintage product we will be using for the Vintage tournament at Winter Fantasy 2006.
Well here's the good news!
The build will be: One Harbinger Booster Pack One Archfiend Booster Pack
From that contestants will build a 100-point Limited warband.
The format is Quickstrike to truly take us back to our roots. Quickstrike: A player wins when they eliminate enemies whose total cost is equal to 70% of the total allowed warband cost, 70 points in a 100-point game, or when his or her opponent is reduced to one creature on the battlefield.
End-of-Match Procedure A match ends when:
a player meets the scenario’s victory condition, no creature takes damage and no player makes an attack roll or saving throw for 10 complete game rounds, or the tournament round time runs out. If the tournament round time runs out during a game round, play continues until a player meets the scenario’s victory condition, or the end of that game round (whichever happens first). Victory conditions are checked at the end of each creature’s activation, as well as at the end of each round.
Maps are used but victory areas are ignored. Start and exit areas are as printed so you don't need to bring those old maps and tiles!
