| I had some spare time at work today so I looked over what's already scheduled in November and came up with some suggestions for events for the upcomming weeks at Black Rose. It seems like the rest of October is already set for 200 pt. constructed so I thought it'd be nice to mix things up:
Nov. 2nd - Reverse Constructed
Nov. 9th - Blood War Draft (boosters supplied by whoever has them and is willing to lend them out. Hopefully I will have one case worth to lend out by then)
Nov. 16th - 200 pt. Constructed (hopefully people will have pieces from Blood War by this time and will be able to use them in new 200 pt. warbands)
Nov. 23rd - Thanksgiving Day (I doubt people will want to play on Thanksgiving)
Nov. 30th - 200 pt. Constructed (So those of us who will be at Gen Con So Cal on the 16th will be able to try out some new Blood War warbands)
Dec. 7th - Sealed or Draft event (practice for the Utah Limited Open especially if we hold it on Dec. 9th)
Dec. 14th - 200 or 500 pt. constructed (to continue trying new warbands)
Dec. 21st - 200 Constructed (Might be too close too Christmas to get enough people out)
Dec. 28th - Same situation as the 21st but with New Year's added in.
This is just to get a rough idea and we obviously don't need to plan that far in advance but we should probably figure out November's events so we can tell Chris in time for him to get everything set up.
Oh and I also vote for a "bring your own draft" for the Limited Open unless we can work out a really good deal price wise for two boosters from one of the stores. I wouldn't worry too much about people weighing boosters to bring the two heaviest because that doesn't seem to work too well with the last few sets and everyone will have the same opportunity to do that if they want to. | |

| So last week I was able to talk to the owner of Black Rose and set up a new shedule for November. I'll post the whole month here so everyone can plan ahead.
Nov. 2nd - Reverse Constructed (e-mail me or Spikegif if you don't fully understand all the rules for this)
Nov. 9th - 200 pt. Constructed (good chance to test out some of the many awesome new combos from Bloodwar)
Nov. 16th - 500 pt. Epic Constructed (now you can test out the new epic pieces from Bloodwar)
Nov. 23rd - Thanksgiving (Obviously there won't be any event this day)
Nov. 30th - 200 pt. Bloodwar Draft (This will be a good opportunity for everyone to learn how the Draft works and get a second chance to get better pulls if you got unlucky at the pre-release. We were able to work out a price of $25 for this event which is $10 less than the pre-release and there will still be some prize support.)
It's really nice to see good turnouts on Thursday nights, especially when compared to 6 months ago when we were lucky to get the 4 people we needed to have a tournament. So I hope we continue to see so many people coming out to play and want to hear everyone's thoughts and opinions on what to do so that we will have a good time.
One of the things I've been wanting to work out for a little while now is to figure out a way to get 3 rounds in. Maybe we could cut round time limits down to 45 mins. and either show up a little early or stay a little later. Anybody have any thoughts on that? | |

| | One other thing. If anyone knows of a place that we can hold a tournament (besides stores) or has a large enough home and is willing to host an event, please let me know. I still want to do a smallier Limited event some time using unopened boosters that we have already purchased from online or wherever, but it doesn't sound like any of the gaming stores would really be up for that. I also think it would be great to have everyone get together to have a big trade day so we don't have to do as much online trading to get everything we want. So if we could combine that all into a 3 round Limited tournament and then do some trading, I think that would be awesome. I know Derek (Corim Danex) has already volunteered his home for trading (and I appreciate that) but I also want to see if there are any other options to consider. Thanks. | |

| I think some people might be confused because we were originally going to have the limited on the 9th but then changed it to later in the month so more people would be able to attend it. I thought I let everyone know but I guess I missed a couple. So just to clarify, next Thursday is scheduled as a 200 pt. constructed and Nov. 30th will be a Blood War Draft event.
As for the Epic date, I wanted to put it on a day where you'd be here but that would've had to been either next week or the 30th so it was kinda tough. But there's going to be at least one Epic event in December also, so hopefully you will be able to make it to that one. Sorry... | |

| I thought things went great, but I usually do when I win both my matches. I've been trying to practice a new warband featuring Bloodwar pieces each week and then try it on Thursdays and so far I'm 5 and 1. There's just so much awesome stuff that I still want to try out from Bloodwar that I don't think I'll be done testing new bands by the time Unhallowed comes out. But I guess that's the kind of problem I can live with.
We talked about fighting the Gargantuan Black or even Collosal Red Dragon on the 28th and I think most everyone thought it would be fun. I was thinking maybe we could do a free for all night and let everyone do whatever they want. We could have a couple matches going against the GBD, have a couple regular pick up matches, and maybe even play a little Three - Dragon - Ante. I just picked up a deck and have been playing at home so now I want to play in a bigger group. Anyway, just an idea that I thought would be good so everyone can have fun doing whatever they want.
One other thing that I was hoping we could start doing is starting earlier to get one more round in. I was a bad example this week and showed up a little late but if we could all show up around 6 - 6:30 then I think it would be easy enough to fit in 3 rounds if we kept them to 45 - 50 min. rounds. I just would like to get more play time in and be able to do more testing with all the new stuff. Plus with 3 rounds we could probably get a more decisive winner each night instead of having 2 or 3 undefeated players. | |

I agree with the little earlier thing. I was Devins first round victim. Although I thought it was one of my better games against him he still soundly won the game. Three dragon ante sounds interesting I haven't played that game yet. Well I better start making a real have want list.
If any of you know a roleplayer or some who needs alot of uncommon/commons lmk. Whats a fair trade ratio anyways when dealing with U/C vs. Rares Twice that listed value?? | |

No sactioned events. we will be playing some 3 Dragon Ante, matches vs the G Black and C Red Dragons, and just some practice matches. Bring your SWM and the new Starship Battles game.

| | Just a reminder that this Thursday will be a 200 pt. event. Also of important note, the new start time for Blackrose is 6:00 so that we can get three rounds in. If anyone is unable to make it by 6 then let us know and I'm sure we can figure out a way to accomodate everyone and still have enough time to play an actual tournament. By the way, for the first little while we should still be able to wait untill around 6:15 or so to actually start playing. Hopefully that'll give everyone enough time to be running a little late. I know I'm probably one of the more regular late commers but I'm trying to start showing up a little early from now on. Anyway, I'm looking forward to testing out a new odd warband this week. | I had a lot of fun on Saturday and was very glad to see we not only had enough players to hold a tournament but we got 7 total! One of those 7 playing was a new father/son team that I hope will be able to make it to more events in the future.
This Thursday will be a 500 point Epic event and we will be officially starting at 7. I know I said we are starting at 6 now but instead we will alternate starting at 6 and 7 every other week so that everyone can make it out. So for this month the 1st and 3rd week will be 6:00 start and the 2nd and 4th will be 7:00.
The last week of the month will usually be non-sanctioned which means you can really show up anytime. Also, I know that most weeks there will usually be a few players at the Blackrose as early as 4 or 5 and I'm going to start showing up closer to that time so feel free to show up early and get more practice or fun games in. | |
