| It actually costs more.....$25
The 1st 2 starters came with 2 set rares and 8 randoms.
RotS has 6 sets minis (2 rares and 4 commons)
The 1st 2 starters came with a poster battle-mat and tiles.
RotS has a very solid gameboard battlemat and no tiles.
RotS starter is also big..the box is the size of the D&D basic game that came with minis. | | Champion of the Skulk Vindicated Champion of the Twig Blight

| I think so..if your a completeist or a collector.
Otherwise if you already have Obi-Wan from the Clone Strike booster and the VR Greivous from Clone Strike....then I guess not. | | Champion of the Skulk Vindicated Champion of the Twig Blight

| | The cardstock board is 3 squares smaller in each direction than the previous maps. I haven't played on it yet, I just watched some others play on it...it looks like it might be fun, although we did notice some weird stuff about the outlines of special areas. They also added a new mechanic for squares that slow movement but don't provide cover, like difficult terrain in DDM. | | "Why am I all sticky and naked? I think it is for both the rares and the gameboard. Everyone at our league Saturday was playing on the gameboard and just loved it. I almost picked up a second starter (albeit at a steep discount) just to get another board.
And to answer the orignal question, I also got two of the same orange clonetroopers/ kneeling battledroids. A disappointment since it is the perfect opportunity to show off the variant sculpts.

Stop trying to feed my addiction [:D] For a large playing aera I am going to print out a ton of the eFuture tiles, and put them under our three playboards (3x3 plexiglass over 3x3 foamcore- keeps maps & tiles clean and stable) creating a 9ft by 3ft play area [:I]

| Can someone give me some more info on the RotS game board?
Does it fold down to the same size as a normal (DDM) game mat?
Does it have just squares on one side?
Does it have a preset map on the other?
Is there any reason it wouldn't be good for DDM? (Other than being slightly smaller...) | | H/W List Successful trades (94) Trades in progress (3): Van Hoo III, Slapdragon, Lance

| | Another Really good thing about the new Starter is the Rule book, it is not Set specific, ie like RS was for Rebel Storm, and CS was for Clone Strike. There are rules, and things it covers for every era of the SW universe, mentioning the New Republic, the NJO, and the Old Republic. This maybe THE Starter for a while, since UHP won't have one, and if i remember Right Rob_W said the next few weren't going to have starters much like D&D doesn't with every set. | | | |

Thanks. That is pretty nice looking. Not sure what I'd do with it since I'm not playing SWM. Seems like SWM gets all kinds of neat stuff. | | H/W List Successful trades (94) Trades in progress (3): Van Hoo III, Slapdragon, Lance

| Use if for the RPG, use it in some Futuristic Expidition to the Barrier Peaks in D&D... er that's all i can think of [:D]
On a side note, SWM gets the neat stuff [?]... come on, we don't even have Figures yet in our Retail packs, and the D&D retail packs get an RPGA module... we don't get those, D&D gets more nifty things than we do... [:(]

| D&D Gets: - Better retail packs with adventures and repaints - 8 Minis per booster - Lack of Very Rares
SWM Gets: - Mounted Minis - A Large Common - Clear Plastic for Lightsabers - A Colossal size mini
Which is better off?...You be the judge. :)
I personally think DDM because every advantage SWM has will probably end up being things DDM will end up having....Yet I doubt SWM will be putting an extra mini in the booster and dropping very rares anytime soon. | | Champion of the Skulk Vindicated Champion of the Twig Blight

| When I said neat stuff I was thinking of the RotS map, the two ultimate missions books and of course the gargantuan AT-AT.
While the retailer packs for DDM might be better, I don't have a good way to get my hands on any of the retailer packs so it doesn't matter much to me. | | H/W List Successful trades (94) Trades in progress (3): Van Hoo III, Slapdragon, Lance

Oh man you answered your own question... you beat me to it. Yeah While DDM might not get, Large Common, they have started Uncommon already and i think as SW becuase of LFL has pushed the development of the minis, for which DD can only benefit. and they do have... 1 mounted mini,,, and they were the first to get mounted even, (that little halfling on the dog), and so far out of the SW there are 6, out of three lines (think that's right, Dewback, Gungan Cav, Geo on pic, and ATRT, speeders, missing any?), while they have an edge in mumbers, many people don't like the Gungan cav, the Geo Pic, and oddly many people who don't play d20 think the Dewback is way to big to be large... so while they have more, there is some flack for some they made.
Overall i think D&D has the edge, besides they don't have someone messing with the line like SW does... (they also have RPG stats on the card for mutli use figs) another advantage of D&DM

| If you are not going to be trying to get complete sets of any of the SWM, which of the starters do you think would be best for a new SWM player to pick up?
I've picked up a few boosters so far asa SW fan, and though I don't know anyone here who plays SW (all DDM fans) I would like to have a better understanding of the game, and at least one battlemat. | | "We can't stop here...This Is Bat country!"

As much as I like the Revenge of the Sith starter, I would suggest the Clone Strike starter in this case- decent fixed rares (Obiwan and Jango) and a "two sided" map (empty grid on one side, so you can use it for DDM too) plus you get tiles. And it is cheaper than the RotS starter.
On the other hand, if you are just into the original Trilogy, go with the Rebel Storm starter (I happen to love the Death Star map). The Luke and Vader are a little less skirmish worthy.
The Revenge of the Sith starter is geared more to new player- high quality gameboard style map and set (but fewer) figures... but a good start if you are going to do a droid army (Grevious' command effects are awesome).

| It's realy tricky all three of them have their merits. Rebel storm has the Force Choke Darth Vader, Clone Strike has Jango Fett and Obi-One. The Revenge of the Sith has a worse version of Obi-One, but a fantastic version of General Grevious and a great Battle Board.

| Then sadly it seems, in time I must get them all.
I think I'll start with Rebel Storm though, i like the sound of a Death Star map, but wait, Jango and a young Obi-Wan in Clone Strike? Maybe I'll, Droids in...
