| | 09/14/2005 3:39 AM | Alert | yhuzon vongs are an invader species from another galaxy..
in the novels.. they basically wipe out the new republic and almost had the galaxy conquered.
very ruthless species
nom anor basically played as a secret agent causing unrest and conflicts until the main yhuzon vong came into the galaxy

| | 09/14/2005 1:53 PM | Alert | Yep, Vong and New Republic are new factions that are separate from the others. You can use fringers with 'em (and you should, especially with Nom Anor...that commander effect is NASTY).
I think the reason there are only a couple figures from those factions is they wanted to hit all time periods with the Universe set, since there shouldn't be another huge set for quite a while. I'd expect a lot more of them in Champions of the Force. | | "Why am I all sticky and naked? Did I miss something fun?" -Vindicated champion of Tordek, Dwarf Champion

"a while" is relative - the set after Champions is huge. Still, with the wait until Champions...yeah, that is a while.
I will just have to content myself with going overboard on DDM...

The New Republic along with fringe refugees and freedom fighters works well thematiclly.
For me. This set will be the end of the line. I got plenty of variety for the older factions and I really don't want to have to build up new factions...mostly Skywalker, Jedi Master will gather dust as I stick to the original factions. | | Robert Rosehart Champion of the pixie

Getting the older Sith like Exar Kun, Darth Bane, and even Malak is pretty cool. Most of the Old Republic Jedi were kind of stale though. Yes we need more Vong and NR also. As for your original question Kith. If you play the time period you can add Imps to the New Republic faction. As for the specific factions just fringe right now. The Vong used other races to cuase discord for the Jedi. They went as far as trying to purge the Jedi from the galaxy again. Asking for all Jedi to be turned over to them and they'd spare some of the galaxy or some such. | | Champion of Jarlaxle Sets: Star Wars Year one complete,44/60 Champions of the Force,0/60 Bounty Hunters

| | 09/18/2005 10:12 AM | Alert | If I wasn't doing DDM as well I'd probably be keen on NJO factions. I really enjoyed the Vong books and a lot of interesting characters on both sides were introduced. Also with refugees and peace brigade fringe plays in very nicely with both factions.
As it stands though. I am pretty much done with SWm until the ship game comes out...please make it soon. | | Robert Rosehart Champion of the pixie

I would dispute the "not all that exciting" part [)], but will agree they are limited in range (if you excluded Fringe). But... that is how they should be. The Rebellion is about individuals fighting against an enemy with virtually unlimited resources.
You say they are not exciting- I instead see them as challenging.
