Is that true? | | Originally posted by Schooly_D Username - he deals in minis Champion of Lhesh Haruuc Shaarat'kor

| | 01/24/2006 3:12 PM | Alert | Well i´m not sure about that because i don´t see D&DM being played against SWM (as marvel HC vs DC heroclix) because are different themes and d&D have magic and is based on close combat with a very important need of CFX, and star wars is more tactical because most of the minis shoot and the close combat is really strong.
Maybe this idea of double costing is based in that star wars is rounded in 10 system against D&D that is based on 5 system, for example a Ewok live 10 pts and hit for 10 pts in comparison to a goblin warrior that hit 5 and live 5 for the same cost (3pts) In D&D minis if you use stormtroopers against monsters like balor... you could take him down really fast because you hit for 10 pts of damage with a mini that cost 5 pts! (well maybe balor is inmune to laser because is a energy [:D]).

| | 01/24/2006 3:16 PM | Alert | | Well, I thought I read somewhere that SWM was setup as 100 pt games. And we know that DDM is 200 pt. I have my own version of DDM meets RPG, and I want to use Geonosians (w/o the gun), Gamorreans, Nexu, Vornskr, Acklay in a swamp scenario. | | Originally posted by Schooly_D Username - he deals in minis Champion of Lhesh Haruuc Shaarat'kor | |

| | 01/24/2006 3:21 PM | Alert | Well remember that RPG is very different from skirmish miniature games, and remember that D&D RPG is very different in system to SWRPG. Star wars don´t have cards for RPG gaming but D&D minis do, if you want to use monsters from one game to the other you have to make convertions to fit each game, for example acklay is a magical beast in D&D, Geonosian could be Monstrous humanoids, and so on...
As proxy you could use them perfectly from one game to the other, (using orcs as gamorreans and wampa as yeti) but remember each one have their own different system. | | Knight of the Quori Champion of King Kaius III of Karrnath

Yes and no. While the earlier SWM sets were geared toward 100pt games, later sets are more geared towards 200. As for DDM- Again, it depends on which set. Some were specificly 100pt sets, some 200pt.
But note that the cost of the figure doen't change based on playing at 100pt or 200pt.

| | 01/24/2006 10:11 PM | Alert | | I've done a few SWM vrs DDM a couple of times. SW has a clear atvantage with the way their range attackers are costed, throw in some of the other lovelies like supporting fire and no limit to warband size and SW is the clear winner. | | Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing. Actually I have been using the Grey Render in SW as a Kintan Strider, except for the color not a bad likeness... (the were one of the Holochess pieces, the big guy with a club, but in the "real world" they never used weapons....)
Was kind of disapointed by the pull untill i ran an adventure in my SWRPG on Kintan and grabbed that for a Strider, then was happy.

Side note for those with cable t.v. The Animal Planet is showing a special on the creatures from all three Star Wars films. | | Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing. Robert E. Howard
