I'm new to forums and miniatures. I've noticed quite a few of you are selling miniatures or trading online. I don't want to sound like a jerk but are there any guarantees when buying? I've bought things on e-bay but not on a forum. Do people do this often?

Strongly suggest you go to the General Forum and the Trading: Q&A subforum.

Much like life, there are no guarantees [)]
But with due diligence, starting small and with reputable traders your risks are minimal.

See the icon that looks like a T surrounded by rotating arrows? That takes you to a persons entry in the trade forum, where you can see what trades they have done and what feedback has been given.

Some also include a link to a "Good Traders thread" (like the one I have below). There I list everyone on this site I have traded with, inside the trade system or out. You could contact them to inquire if I am reputable...as far as trades go [)]

Generally you want to deal with someone who has been on the site awhile and has a solid trade history. I take those into account, along with a genral 'gut' feeling before I do a trade.

Just be prepared to send first when you start out, as you haven't been on the site very long and have no trade history.

If the person who you want to trade with has no history either, than what? Just go for it?

Pretty much. It comes down to a 'gut check'- If you feel comfortable with the trade, go ahead. If not, don't.

If neither of you have a reputation, your best bet is to start small, where a scam won't hurt to hard (though they ALWAYS hurt).

Once you have a reputation yourself, it is not unreasonable to ask a new trader to send first. This is an act of good faith, and again you'll not want to ask for the world, as the person on the other end is going to be a bit more nervous.

Most people start small and build from their. Very few have been truly burned by scammers, many have had no problems what so ever.
