Why everybody thinks R2D2 is broken

He is a figure for the republic, that is a little undervaluated faction; Reasons:

- Clone troopers are not good enough for themselves, and the officers or CFX are not good enough as other factions.

- Jedis are nice, they have high defense and lots of HP, but they must get melee to be actually if some use, they are cheap but no enough to go against other factions.

For playing good you have to mix them up, and none is broken as we might think in constrast to separatist or empire.

R2D2 as a VR piece comes with his surprises to boost this faction, the towing ability could let you put a jedi close in combat (usually you bring them to a sith and they are very tough to defeat and hit hard) the override ability could be very handy as with lobot but R2 is of use only if you take him in combat, you have to risk him to use his ability of towing, making him very vulnerable since he had 30 pts.

Comments?
Who think he is really broken?

Well prior to Lobot,R2D2's Override ability was a real pain. It could potentialy stall a game to the point where it wasn't fun anymore. Not bad for an eight point figure.[xx(] In a Timed game it wasn't too hard to hole up in a room using figures with mobility to chip away at your opponent's forces.

His later variation adds Flight, the Towcable and his electric shock power. While flight is pretty good for him and the shock is allright, the Towcable is some very mighty tech. Only for one point more than the previous R2D2.

I do agree Clone Troopers are not costed as nicely as the Storm Troopers, although their 20 damage is nice. I've seen a fair amount of solid Republic warbands using the cheaper Naboo Soldier.

R2D2 does only have 30 hitpoints true, but his 17 defense makes him pretty sturdy. Also if you are watching your placements and movements you can always manuver R2D2 behind the Jedi he's towing.

I disagree on the Jedi not being cheap enough, they have high defenses, lots of hitpoints and in some cases lightsaber deflection. It is tricky to do an all Jedi Force with no ranged characters, throwing in some Naboo Soldiers and Clone Troopers is almost always a wise move.

He wouldn't if people didn't exploit him for a cheap win. I've personally never had won used to attempt an inst-win situation, but I'll tell you I'd be kicked out of where I was playing. Because cheapy would be suffering from a broken nose. Yes I like to win but I like to win with my mind and skill not by cheating. Do I really think he's "broken" as in bannable? No, but I do think Wizards should make the whole "Thier coming through" rule official.

That rule to rubble walls and doors is really nice, but could complicate the game a little, it didn´t work too much in heroclix but this game is more dynamic so i could work!

That would go over the overide ability of lobot and R2D2.

What you guys think about R2D2-Yoda Combo? he moves and deal triple attack!!!

Yes that put's a stop to people who want to hide. It's like saying ok kill my Battle Droid and run. But as soon as I have that door within line of sight of my whole band. Hell will have no fury like my team. As for the rule I don't think they are that bad. Yes Luisjoey at first it may slow you up, but after awhile the rule becomes second nature. Not too mention the doors only have 30HP's or so then become difficult terrain.

Well if it comes it would be nice but makes my main warband a less powerful, Poor lobot and R2 now they are not so broken.

30Hp is funny to keep you waiting 2 rounds in that.

My strategy would be to blow the door at the end of the round. Making the next round very interesting. Don't get me wrong R2 and Lobot have uses. For example I once used R2 to lock my opponent(my brother) in a room. Why? to set up my trap the next round. When people decided to use R2 as a fail safe victory they in turn broke him.

Yes I used Lobot many times to keep Vader Jedihunter at bay for a while, one of this games was the longest game i ever played (like 30 rounds) i killed thank to this many enemies letting vader alone for me, but in a competitive way lobot and R2D2 are very useful because you win with the end of time if you managed to use well the ability.

What i think is a little bad is that you have to play defensive with this characters ability.
