| Hiya, I`m pretty much a newbie for SWMB, and want to get a few bands of ebay so I can take to my school and play with the students as an elective. Yep - I want to get paid for playing some SWMB [)]
I need some help making the bands up though. And cheap, as I dont really want to spend much money & would prefer to just ebay some. Would rather buy a 30 cent wookie soldier than chewbacca.
I`ll probably get a starter kit, wo if I have to for enough maps unless there is a better way? Cause it will also get me a darth vader & luke?
I would like to know the make up of a dozen or so squads from different factions that were reasonably balanced to each other and would be cheap to get.
Any help appreciated.

| I did something similar - I found that in the beginning I printed out a lot of paper minis to suppelement my lack of funds. You get find some good ones online. Look under paper minis. Check here:

You can get all the stat cards at www.rebelscum.com under the photo archives.
If you have a budget at your school(I did not) You can get some good deals on e-bay. You can have great games with troopers - commons are pretty easy to come by online or at gaming stores. You can try buying a few boosters and then trade for what you want. Some of the Rebel Storm characters are easy to find.
I bought the starter, although Vader is so powerful he usually wins the scenarios until you get some stronger rebels. It is a good place to start.
Maps are harder to come by - you can print out maps that others have created - a playset called Attack on Endor has 4 maps an At-St and 3 troopers for 25.00. Great deal. Check the stickied thread for good maps.
Good Luck! | | | |

| Yeah I think the Rebel Storm starter's a great investment... a great map on one side and a blank map on the other that you can copy/customize to your heart's content...
Your basic stormtroopers complement Vader well- so there's an Imperial warband right there. Vader's commander effect shows a lot about his character... he does not tolerate failure. [:)]
Luke works best with uniques, but no sweat. He's still a half decent shooter and some of the EpisodeIV crew are pretty cheap to pick up later as class progresses. Otherwise a selection of Rebel and Hoth troopers with a commander and some elites are good. A friend of mine regularly plays Rebels vs Empire troopers with his son, so it's a generally a good match -although Vader will beat pretty much anyone... so watch out for that.
Okayyy... other warbands... for the Republic you can go with a Clone Trooper theme if you like with some cheap Jedi support... or you could run the Republic Commandos (Boss, Fixer, Sev and Scorch) in various combinations as a "special forces" team. They're all common or uncommon and each one plays a different role in the battle. Great tactical stuff there...
Separatist: Droids! Droids! Droids! Yeah they're cheap, yeah they die in droves, but dammit there's a lot of them you can throw onto the battlefield... it really punches home the need for teamwork.
I'd skip New Republic and the Yuzzhan Vong for now... ditto on the Old Republic and the Sith... these factions don't have nearly enough depth right now and since we're trying to keep this on the cheap, you'll end up with more basic troopers, and with Empire/Rebels, you've got that covered. Although granted a group of OR Jedi could be something to look into later.
Fringe: Wow! There are a lot of different things you can do with the random aliens, robots and other characters in the SWU. I reccommend getting a "smattering" of different fringe characters to add some spice to your games. They can be used to fill out warbands. They can be used as objectives/prisoners/random bystanders in different scenarios. You can even let your students make a warband entirely of these fringe characters. Some all-stars include: Twi'lek Scoundrel, Rodian Black Sun Vigo, Ishi Tib Scout, Jawa, Ewok, Gonk Droid, Ungnaught Demolitionist, Yuzzem and the Human Mercenary.
Well best of luck with your class! I think is going to be a great opportunity to teach your students some things on strategy, tactical/lateral thinking, resource management, and setting objectives and priorities... just be sure to smile all the more once they start beating you! [:D]

| Thanks for the advice :)
It should be fun with the students... will be a group of about 8, age ranging from 11-14.
I`ll get rebel storm then.
The school doesnt have a budget for it ): So it will all be out of my pocket but it's also something that I`ll enjoy so can't complain too much. They will lamiate my maps for free and other side expensives.
Looking at the paper models. Great site. I think more useful for RPG that skirmish but see how the kids go. I`ld like to start with the plastic minis though. More chance of hooking them.
I'll watch out for vadar. Remeber him from the few games I have played.
Thanks again.
