Haven't played this game in forever. Recently moved to a new town with an actual community of people who play, so I thought I'd try to get back into it. First, have there been any rule changes? Second, I'm really only interested in playing Imperial and Fringe. Any recommendations? Right now here's what I have:

1x Darth Vader, Dark Jedi (Rebel Storm)
1x Darth Vader (Revenge of the Sith)
1x Emperor Palpatine (Rebel Storm)
1x Sandtrooper on Dewback (Rebel Storm)
1x Scout Trooper on Speeder Bike (Rebel Storm)
1x General Veers (Rebel Storm)
2x Dark Trooper Phase III (Universe)
Xx Stormtroopers, Elite Stormtroopers, Heavy Stormtroopers, Imperial Officers (Rebel Storm)
1x Boba Fett (Rebel Storm)
1x Dengar (Rebel Storm)
1x Bossk (Rebel Storm)
1x 4-LOM (Rebel Storm)
Xx Common/Uncommon Fringers from Rebel Storm

I also have this stuff, but in the end I'll probably try to use it to trade for more Imperial and Fringe minis.

1x Luke Skywalker, Rebel (Rebel Storm)
1x R2-D2 (Rebel Storm)
1x Wedge Antilles (Universe)
1x Lando Calrissian (Rebel Storm)
1x General Grievous (Clone Strike)
1x Jango Fett (Clone Strike)
1x Asajj Ventress (Clone Strike)
1x Captain Typho (Clone Strike)

Any help is appreciated.

You can go far with most of those. I'd recoomend trying to get some of the newer dark jedi to augment your melee attack. You will need the RotS starter game to get the most up to date rules. Most of it is the same but it is updated with new feats and errata. The new set is out as well so you mmight want to pick some up.

Evil triumphs when good men fail their morale saves.

Good to hear that my older minis that were good, are for the most part still good.

Not too keen on buying the starter just to get the rules (Since there is likely very little I would pull that I want from that set...especially since I already have Vader) However, with such a large community of players here. I'm sure someone has an extra copy they would give me.

You can also download the rulebook from the Wizards site if you just want to read it over, that's what I did.

When did you stop playing? The latest rulebook (RotS) and FAQ/Errata are online at WotC's Star Wars Miniature section. You need to get the inserts from Universe and Champions of the Force for the "full" rules. They have introduced a Living rule which defines what characters can be effected by what abilities (no more poisoning droids)

1x Bossk (Rebel Storm)
1x 4-LOM (Rebel Storm)
Xx Common/Uncommon Fringers from Rebel Storm:

Darth Vader, Dark Jedi has pretty much been replaced by Darth Vader, Champion of the Sith from Champions of the Force (better stats, nicer CE).
Palpatine & Boba Fett are as useful as ever.
Dewback is pretty much replaced by the Dark Side Adept.
Stormies are great grunts. I happen to like Elite Snowtroopers best.

As an Imperial player, you will want Thrawn from Universe. He makes your grunts better, stops Jedi and the ability to swap pieces is awesome.
You will also want Mas Amedda from CotF (he is Republic, but is 'crossfaction' with Imperial) allows you to extend your CEs to pretty much the whole board for only 8 points.

Other figures you might want to consider:
The Attack on Endor expansion has some nice optional rules, some great maps and figures uncluding an AT-ST, which is pretty a must for an Imperial player.
The biggest beatstick for imperials is Darth Vader, Jedi Hunter from Universe.
Grand Moff Tarkin from can be had for pretty cheap, and his CE can be useful.
Nightsister Sith Witches from Universe are really fun with Force Lightning, and you can use Palpatine as a battery for them.
Lando from Universe gives mobile attack.
Stormtrooper Commanders from Universe increase Damage.
Sandtroopers from CotF hit for 20 and only cost 8pts.

I strongly suggest going to http://www.swshoebox.com/
They have stats for the figures (that are in most cases correct). They also have a comparison feature, so you compare what you have with what is available. For example, try comparing your Dewback with a Dark Side Adept.

Clone Strike is pretty much Out of Print (there was a Europe/Australia reprint, but it doesn't seem to had much effect on prices here) so you should be able to get some decent trades.
