10/20/2006 10:02 AM Alert
I just put this one together last night to try out whenever I can get a game next. I play mostly casual/friendly games, but I still play to win.

Snowtrooper with E-Web Blaster 18
Scout Trooper on Speeder Bike 21
AT-ST 54
Grand Admiral Thrawn 37
General Veers 21
Imperial Officer 14
Stormtrooper Commander 15
Stormtrooper x3 15
Ugnaught Demolitionist 3

198 points, 11 activations.

The concept behind the band was to move the Speeder Bike into a good position, then use Thrawns CE to swap it with the E-web, then blast away! The E-web and the AT-ST benefit greatly from the commanders in the squad (+3 attack and defense, +10 damage, Accurate Shot, ect...) and the Stormtroopers are simply there as extra activations or to combine fire with one of my two main shooters to take down high defense targets. The only non Imperial, the Ugnaught, will blow up any door my opponent has locked using Overide.

I suppose I could swap out the Speeder Bike with 2 Dark Hellion on Swoops, but since I only have 1 Swoop atm, I'll stick with the Speeder, besides, I want to keep the squad as Imperial as possible.

So, does this squad need more tweaking or is it competitive enough as it is?

Thrawn's CFX would be boosted if you toss in Mas Ameda as well.

Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.

I agree, you should throw in Mas Ameda. Then when you play put thrawn in a corner and his commander effect will spread out. DO NOT put him in a closed room by himself though.

Cool...

Thanks for the input! As soon as I pull one, I'll definatly be adding Mas to the squad. My next question would be this: would this build hold its own vs. most of the other popular squads being played? Its been a while, my attention has been on other things besides SWM for the last few months, so I'm not sure what is popular these days. I'm not keen on playing squads that can lose simply because my opponent plays some squad that I'm very weak against. When I do lose, I'd prefer its because my opponent played better than me.

Well, as an example if it helps ya, my undefeated imperial army is:
Mas- 8
Thrawn-37
4x Elite Stormtroopers- 48
Boba, Bounty Hunter-62
Ig-88 BH- 44

Total: 199

Send out 4 troopers. After they're used, switch one for IG-88. use his double attack, theres 40-60 dmg assuming you hit.
Meanwhile with boba, move him around and use his mobile attack.
If your troopers end up near a tough unique enemy, do the following: last 2 activations before new initiative. Switch boba for a trooper, use boba's twin attack. Next initiative, win using thrawn (unless you get the 1, then good luck), twin attack with Boba again, switch him with someone in safety using thrawn. Depending on enemy you might want to use IG-88 instead of boba for the switching and use opportunist.
Also, thanks to thrawn w/mas, the stormtroopers have i think +11 attack and do their 20 dmg.

If you dont have the boba and Ig-88, try the following...
add a few more elites, a stormtrooper officer, and an imperial officer or two. Makes for a decent sized army where elites are getting +11 or +14 if they dont move. They also get to attack more becuase of the imperial officer.
