I don't see how the sqare bases commemorate anything. I don't really buy any SWM anymore so I don't know - is there already 7 mini's per booster or is that a change?

I believe there's a 'Lucas Tax' of one mini - nothing new.

I guess that square bases will be so there can be celebrational "Star Wars 30 years" -text (golden?) in thefront of the base. Maybe collectors will be more into it.

Can't say it does anything for me. I suppose it does make them look more like little statues rather than game pieces so that might appeal more to collectors who don't play the game.

1) I don't get it. (That is, how being square and being commemerative, have anything to do with one another.)
2) I don't mind.

I don't like them.  I prefer my SWM too look more uniform.  The square Dreamblade bases are too much of a change for me.

While I do think it is strange to change the bases at this point and it will bother me to see them not match the other sets, I do
prefer spuare bases to round ones. Even if it is for purely asthetic reasons.

I think it's silly to change all the bases to square bases.

It would be one thing if "good" guys were round while "bad" guys had square bases. I kind of like that in SSB. But it's too late for regular SWM, since all those previous sets have round bases. Now, it's silly to make such a change.

Also, since I was buying occassional SWM for D&D RPG proxies or additional variety, I won't be buying any with square bases for this purpose due to consistency issues.

Heres a different way to look at it.

They want it to say Star Wars on the side- good reason for it being thicker/raised
Some ppl have problems reading when something rounded- so they make the bases square.

Why would they want it to say Star Wars on the side?
well, hypothetically speaking of course, lets say one day Star Wars isnt popular anymore (like 50 years or something). You open up a box thats been sitting in your attic and you see all these various figures. You wonder what they are from but the bases are scratched and you cant read it. You dig farther into the box and you find ones with square bases that say Star Wars on the side and you remember.

I know this is a horribly unrealistic and just all around bad story but it would be an explaination for the square bases.

Personally I don't care for it myself. I'd prefer them to look like the previous sets for consistancy. I'm curious if the square base will be slightly taller the the round ones...that might look a little odd when next to the previous sets...but it's to hard to tell. I'll still get them of course...the transparent Spirit of Obi-Wan figure looks cool...at least he looks slightly transparent!

i also think that having some minis with square bases and some with circuler bases will look kind of strange.I wonder if they will change the
bases back to normal in later sets.Hey we got like the 10th Vader peice to look forword to tho. I wonder if they will run out of ideas with vader
eventually.

Jajajaja nice conspiratory idea! ^^ COuld be true! But i think i saw that the bases would be square long time before this preview.

I think that people centers too much on the square bases, and doesn´t think that this set would be excellent for Rebellion and Empire (Both factions pretty forgotten in other sets) both need a little boost to compete with Republic, and the meta game would change notoriously to this factions. The game would make what it makes with new sets IMPROVE THE METAGAME, making some old minis very useful and other useless.
For Collectors, this set would be amazing because is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the saga! With iconic figures at hand of a booster. How many stormtroopers are enough? I want more!

The square bases bothers me at first, but if the game keeps being almost the same (with the necesary metagame evolution) and with good rares, i´m on it

Not a fan at all. I buy a few SWM here and there than can fit into DnD, so I guess my opinion doesn't matter much. I just like all my stuff to be the same (in this case, all minis should have round bases). So, I most likely won't be picking up any more SWM until they go back to round bases.

I don't want "ads" on my minis !!!! I'll have paint those over. Too distracting.

The new bases r to big. The minis r supposed to be sized up. It's actually supposed to compare stormtroopers to at-st's and the new bases r to tall for that to work with the old ones.

once you use them enough it doesn't matter.  if you collect enough of both than you can have square vs. round instead of factions.  the square base (although i wasn't happy at first) can be a new opening to diff. skirmishes.  the pics. on the internet suck tho.  its way better in real life.

One of the folks who went to Gen-con asked and confirmed the second run would be circular bases.  Even if it's not I'm not going to lose any sleep over it, I've been collecting since Rebel Storm; plenty of figures.
