I'm interested in starting in the Star Wars CMG.  I'm a bit puzzled, though, by the various starter sets, what is or isn't being supported by WOTC right now, and whether or not that makes a difference.  In other words, for example, if I buy a clone strike starter - which I gather is not in productin any more-  will that create problems for me?

It shouldn't be an issue, there are no banned sets or figures for Star Wars.  I'd sugest a Revenge of the Sith Starter actually, you get both a cool version of Obi-One and the Best version of General Grevious.  The map is a neat piece of unfolding carboard simular to what you'd find in a boardgame.

You could buy any starter... but the best would be the Revenge of the sith one.
Each Starters bring specific maps and is useful to have all of them...

In a month or two a new starter is about to come with this new set Alliance vs Empire.
