 | | 02/06/2008 4:59 AM | Alert | Wrong forum, but no big deal. Retirement could mean one of two things:
1. They are not going to continue to reprint them. They were reprinting the older sets on an "as needed" basis for Star wars minis. What's left on the shelf is whats going to be left.
2. They are going to retire those sets from tournament play. They will no longer be allowed to be used in a specific format of tournaments.
Unfortunatly I don't follow starwars enough to know which is which. Edit- I just skimmed the star wars message boards here and at the official site and I don't see anyone complaigning about retirement so I'm guessing its more #1 then #2. | | Looking for someone to cosponser a midwest DDM event. let me know if your interested! | | 02/06/2008 1:49 PM | Alert | | I'm pretty sure they are referring to option #1. With the classic character reprints in each set.... power creep causes the older figures to be not as viable. | | Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing. You and me both. Unfortunatly I think they shot themselves in the foot on that one. The only way to get them to reprint it is if the square based set sells out. I'm personally not planning on helping them do that. A&E is the only set I don't have any figures from. | | Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing. | | 02/07/2008 3:57 AM | Alert | I'm beginning to doubt that A&E will ever be reprinted with round bases (even if the current printing sells out), since there are some figures that just won't fit on a standard sized round base... For example, the Advance Agent Officer has its feet at the corners of its base, beyond the point where the plastic would end if the base was round. The Ithorian Commander and Rampaging Wampa have similar issues, although at least a bit of their feet would still end up within the diameter of a round base.
I suspect that any figures from the set that WotC deems worthy of reprinting will just be reissued as resculpts in future sets, which isn't so great when it's the sculpt that is what is cool in the first place. The Trandoshan Mercenary is already being reissued in Legacy of the Force, and while the original sculpt wasn't suitable for a fantasy-themed campaign, the upcoming sculpt looks disappointing compared to the A&E version.

 | | 02/21/2008 3:11 AM | Alert | | What was the reason for SWM to switch to square bases? I know that the DDM icons use square bases to cover their areas more clearly, but medium and large figures fit quite nicely in their grid spaces. I hope that DDM doesn't switch to the square bases. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades. | |

It certainly didn't work for me. Thats the first SWM set I didn't buy a single booster for. To a degree it's caused me to buy much less of the current and upcoming sets as well. | | Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.
