welcome to the obsession, beware spoilers!

I think charlie is being turned into a Zeke brand other, his obsession with 'saving' the baby, his visions, and his tactics are are stangely similar to the others when they attack.

I think the two main groups are Zeke wilderness bunch who are, to a certain extent, being controled by the island and need the children because the island needs the children. And Ethans sleepers who, also to a certain extent, can control the island and need the children to help them control or to protect them from the island.

I'm confused, I thought it was the Zeke group that took the kids (he was the one from the boat who took Walt and the reference to Alex).

Zeke's group took Walt but Ethan's group took the tailies kids and tried for claire (if they are two different groups as some have theorized). I'm saying both groups want the children but for different reasons, or maybe the same reason but with different endgames in mind.

All the 'other's' could be one group and not two or more as I and some other believe in which case my original point of charlie being changed into an 'other' by the island is still valid the motives just might change.

Exactly! And I hadn't seen that one before, so it took me a bit to figure out what was going on. I liked the episode, though.

Finally! I hope that wasn't a red herring, I'd be bummed if it turned out that the clock going to zero happens in someone's dream or something equally lame.

I found the time-travel thing interesting. I think it is a red herring. The radio music might have been a few decades old, but that's nothing new. Did anyone catch the call letters of the radio program? I swore I heard a W, but that would be from teh eastern US, so I think maybe I just wanted to hear it.

I wonder why the writers pulled Swayer in the direction they did. By the way, not that it matters all that much, but I totally called the whole Charlie thing. My wife was sitting there freaking out when Sun was being pulled away, and I said, "I bet it's Charlie."

(Wrong reason though, I figured it would be connected to hallucinations and not to his hatred of Locke. Silly me, I should have seen that one from a mile away.)

According to the TV guide interview wit hJosh Hollowy (Feb. 6-12 page 26) he actually begged the producers not to make Sawyer too likable. It seems like the actor got a big say in what the character was like. I definately like the TV Guide LOST tidbits and it seems like every week there is something new!

I really thought it was Ana Lucia that kidnapped Sun as she was jsu tsaying that "people weren't scared enough". I was defiantely shocked when it was Charlie!

Stupid Hurley, this is all his fault. [:(!] His little quip to Sawyer a few episodes ago ("Yeah, dude, everbody loves you now") is what set him off last night. Poor guy--if Kate's really pissed at him she should have everyone be extra kind to him and see how long it takes him to crack.

That book Locke was rifling when Sawyer walked in was Occurance at Owl Creek Bridge. It's the story of a Civil War soldier, who is to be hanged for something (treason? desertion?). The rope is released, he drops, the rope snaps, and he makes his escape into the river below. Over the next several days, beset by neck pains and increasingly severe dehydration, he tries to make his way home, eventually passing out within sight of his goal. Except that what actually happens is that his neck snaps when the rope drops, and those three days of "subjective time" were what passed through his mind in the moments between the breaking of his spine and his death.

Lastly, at the start of the episode, did I hear Jack call Locke "Jack" instead of "John"?

Also, my mom asked why Ana Lucia (who presumably never met them) would have confused Scott and Steve.

I remember that story, but I didn't remember the name. How interesting that it's in there. I wonder whether this is the hint that the whole damn show is their collective death visions. I hope not.

I asked my sons this same thing. As soon as Jack corrected her, I said "Someone else confused them too, I wonder what's up with this?"

Wow, what a way to link Sayid to Kate's father!

And next weeks episode looks awesome, another station! I can't wait!

I hate this show, I'm never watching it again. You can't GIVE HIM EXTRA SECONDS! ZERO MEANS ZERO! And were those heiroglyphs on the clock?

I felt dumb for not recognizing Kate's dad til I saw her pic. Not as dumb as glumag... [)]

Oh, wasn't "Henry Gale" the uncle of Dorothy Gale, who went off to see a Wizard and almost came back home in a balloon? I can see Sayid not picking up the reference, but I thought Jack or Locke would catch it. Sounds like a foolish attempt at an alias to me.

I think the heiroglyphs were the symbols for each of the dharma labs on the island. I think 5 were mentioned and we have seen 3 symbols.

nice catch on the 'henry gale' thing I didn't catch it until you mentioned it.

Indeed I think the symbols on the clock were the symbols for the six stations (six number slots). Was it just me or were only the last two still spinning when Locke pressed enter and reset?

And anyone else notice that close of up 'Henry' staring down Sayid before they closed the door? Sure didn't look like I'm terrified and you just beat me. More of a taunt/sneer.

From next weeks snipets it looks like we find a third station, some sort of medical facility if I saw the flashes of Claire's memories correct.

You see! There ARE others out there just like me. What? Why are laughing?

thought it was only 5 numbers on the countdown clock 108:00, unless the : was a symbol as well.

As to AesophDarkfable theory i've thought it was a skinner box all along. I'm glad jack stood up to locke, I was of the opinion he should have done that in the first place.

The character named Gale was in a balloon. (And what's this about a wizard? Wasn't there a balloon for a wizard in the Wizard of Oz?)

The character named Locke knows the combination to the lock.

The character named Hurley threw up the seafood that he tried.

Any other ones?

Mr. Eko becomes a reflection of his brother.

It seemed to me like the glyphs indicated that something would happen to the stations once they all clicked in place.

Okay, War Drums buzz is tiding me over for now, but I'm really wishing I could have watched Lost this week.

I did notice something. The writers are racist. (Give me a second to explain.)

Sure, there are lots of minorities, strong female roles, etc.

But, Walt and Michael are both gone, we haven't seen anything out of Rose in a while, and Eko wasn't around much in the most recently new episode. All the black characters are disappearing from view. What's up with that?

Okay, climb back down. This post isn't really about racism. But, it's about the fact that it could look like it. Do you think that the writers have done this on purpose? Is there some motive that's being played out by this?

Or is it just one of those random things?

Um...(scratch head), Lost has one of the most diverse casts I've seen in a long while and we've had plenty of dry stretches where characters don't show up for lengths of time. Thinking the directors/writers racist for the quirks of the show is a bit much.

The deal with Walt's character is something twofold as I recall reading something about him having to go back to school so the writers might have shifted the arrangement of the show to fit/cover his absense.

You see! There ARE others out there just like me. What? Why are laughing?

And he also guest starred on L&O so I am sure that took up some of his time as well.

You might have missed the part of my post where I said that I wasn't really calling the writers racist. I figured that would get people's attention though.

There are loads and loads of symbols in this crazy show, and I'm just wondering if there's any additional meaning behind having the darkest-skinned characters all being relatively absent at the same time.

Very cool episode tonight. I was kinda hoping Claire was just freaking out, at first, but then as things developed a little, I liked where things went.

I think the most telling scene was Kate looking at the theatrical glue. This speaks volumes without, ironically, really telling us much.

I didn't pay much attention to numbers or dates or anything this time. Anyone catch any?

yep now its looking like there might only be one group of 'others' poseing as two,

New theory: the 'others' are the children of the original Dharma scientists carring on the experiments as best they remember how. Might be the the experiments got loose and the children are both trying to 'save' the worthy and continue at the same time but the information on what to do has been warped or they are part of the experiments as well now.

EW had an interesting article with a new theory.
This is a big theory here, and has some potential.

http://www.ew.com/ew/article/commentary/0,6115,1162044_3||1045714_0_,00.html

Now an interesting part is after I read this new theory, in Claires flashback the beardless/bearded guy said to Ethan "What am I going to tell him"...

The link is a little wonky, but cut-and-paste works.

The theory is very cool, I like it. And, compared to some of the other theories out there, this one has the advantage of being somewhat testable. As we re-watch old episodes, and watch new episodes, we can look for the kind of support necessary to make the theory true. (Sadly, as is the case with pseudo-scientific theories, it could be that everything counts as evidence, which ruins the idea of it being testable at all.)

I found lots of fun in this episode. I like that Ana Lucia had the moxie to go to Sayid looking for a travel partner--good move on her part. (Not at all unexpected, it was certainly in character, but it was nice to see.)

The whole Jin/Sun stuff is interesting, I like that we still don't really know who the father is. On the other hand, they've been on the island for a while now, so who else would it be?

Another good ending--I always look forward to the last five minutes.
