| OK. I just needed somewhere to vent.
Why is that many times when I post an answer, no one comments on it...and then a dozen posts later someone write "You should do blah blah blah", you know, the exact same thing I said, and then the original poster write "Oh thanks Other Guy for that suggestion!".

Grrrr!
Is it that people are not reading the posts that the are replying to? Maybe I should petition for a pop-up to say "Before we submit your reply, are you sure you have read all the previous posts?" [:I][:)]
It seems to happen a lot to me. I think part of the reason is that I tend to write longer posts...and people are lazy! I never ever ever reply to a topic unless I've read every post in that topic. What about everyone else? | |

| I have noticed that it takes a good while for people to begin recognizing who you are on the boards. Once people recognize you more, they begin to read what you have to say with greater frequency...thus recognizing you even better next time.
It's nothing against you most likely, it's just a lack of familiarity. Give people some time. After a year on the boards...here and WotC I think people recognize me for sure, but still overlook what I have to say at times for more recognizable posters. Be patient.

ALSO, some people tend not to read the entire thread but only go for the latest replies and the original post that started the thread so if you are not one of those you tend to be skipped at times. Don't take it personaly; as a matter of fact, anything online should not be taken personaly.
At least you are getting replies now [)]
Also keep in mind that a lot of people do read your posts but a) agree with it and don't need to add a comment; b) don't care to reply at all. I personally think that if you start a thread it is your duty to read every reply in it and reply accordingly and if needed. I usually thank people for their relevant and helpful replies to threads I start with a question and/or in need of help. | |

Haha, yeah maybe a little. But I notice it for other people as well. I get it when the topic is 4 pages long and someone posts something that was already said on page 1. And of course when 2 people post something seconds apart. But when the Topic Author posts a thank you to someone for a suggestion and that's already been given by an earlier poster, that kind of ticks me off. Like glumag, I think if you start a thread then you need to read each post. Comment to each post no. But your comments should be to thank people in general "Thanks to everyone who said..." if more than one person said it. To point to the last person when other people have said the same thing and say "Thanks for coming up with that!" seems pretty rude to me.
Anyway, like I said, just wanted to vent really. [)]
I hope though that it is not like Sharn Inquisitor said though, that sort of "good-ole boys" network is not friendly towards new members. I'll just chalk it up to laziness and bad manners. [:D] | |

There is the network, but no one on here is "not friendly towards the newbies"
Think of it this way. You're at a party, you walk up to someone you dont know and tell them "Hey! You smell like poop and Skittles" You'll probably get ignored (if not hurt [:P]). Then five minutes later their best friend could come up to them and tell them the same thing. We'll he's probably gonna listen to him and say thanks.
But there is definately no hostility to the new blood. You'll find that this is probably one of the nicest forum communities on the net. Just give us some time to warm up to ya [:P] | |

| hey, new blood is great and I am all up for new blood...but no one likes when someone arrives at a party being loud and obnoxious and acting like it is their party either.

There are MANY times I have mentioned something and it seems to go unnoticed...And then someone will post the same thing and eveyone is like "Wow! Really?"
Its annoying but it happens to everyone.
Reading every single post will rot your brain eventually.
But I do agree that if you are the thread starter you should read everyone's responce. | |
