UPS finally came and delivered my newest Dwarven Forge items. Click on the names and it will show the items.

Mermaid fountain: very nice piece, the mermaid needs a little paint highliting, but nice none the less.

Traps Set II:

The Swinging Log Trap: is just sick. Surprised that it actually works! You hit the one tile and it causes these rods (look like allan wrenches) to make the log fall. The log has spikes on it!!

Falling Rocks Trap: is cool as well. Same thing with the rods (these are straight pieces of metal.) If you purchase this piece or set make sure you move the pieces of rock around to fit on the wall or you will flip out and think DF made a mistake. Very nice trap

Falling Blocks: Man they are big come with a chain on it and all. Shure would have been nice if they were attached to something like the log. Definately will block passage. You get 2 in the set.

Arrow Loop Wall x4: Very nice. Looks like the holes in walls may be windows. Let your PCs look through there then whammo, an arrow in the eye.

Arrow Hole For Passages x2: Very nice. Comes with steps a very nice companion to above.

Very Happy with this set.

Traps set I:

6 inch long Passage with moat and log: This is a great piece. The photo doesn't do it justice. The log is moveable and the moat is very nice.

L-shaped passage with 4 traps swinging LEFT: This is very nice there is one trap, that has spikes on it. Very nice piece.

L-shaped passage with 4 traps swinging RIGHT: Same review as the left piece. Man put these back to back. Die PC, die!!

Floor Piece with traps x2: The picture show a set of four, only two come in the set. Nice looking tiles. Would have been better if the traps moved. Very happy though.

Short Passage with Trap: You get one of these pieces in the set. Very nice. Again would have loved to be able to move the trap doors.

Wooden Ramp with Boulder: This is nice. You can use the ramp as something the pcs' climb to get to a second story then they trip the trap and the boulder comes down. Squisho!

Swiveling and Slamming Walls:

I will edit this post as I open the boxes.

It feels like my birthday.

The pics don't do this stuff justice. Very high quility. I already dropped the corner piece on a tile floor and nothing happend to it!!

I am a huge fan of this stuff. I started collecting this stuff when I seen a few pieces at a yard sale for cheap.

Now I am trading minis for pieces and sets.

Feels great. They are solid. Some pieces have a little wieght to them like the spiked log trap. others are light.

They come painted and all.

You can pay them with paypal and thier shipping is cheap not as insane as ebay.

you wont be sorry, this stuff is great.

Wow I did a search on the site again and man there is some really cool pieces. Maybe I will look into it. Not so much traps but the table pieces and such. I wish they had more passage pieces.

We have several sets (7 total) including both sets of traps. They are very, very cool. The big problem that we have with them, is that they are very time consuming to put together. It needs to be something that is done well in advance of the game and then you take the your map and cover up the part of the dungeon the players haven't been to yet.

Start with a room and passage set and then work from there.

I draw out my dungeon (map it out on scetching paper) and then put it together as the pcs explore

Dwarven Forge is very high quality stuff - looks good, well made, highly durable, and bottom is covered in felt!

However, in using if for D&D a few things need to be considered:

1. Design Difficulties: Unless you design your dungeon using the DF pieces as templates in is very difficult to get them to match your dungeon design. Sometimes nto a big deal, as its only a little off, other times its more of a problem.

2. Set up time/put away time/space: it takes a good amount of time to find the peices you need, take them out of boxes, set them up correctly, then move them out of the way as characters leave that area. Good to set them up early on a piece of ply-wood, but then keep several sections of dungeon on plywood is more space then most have available AND you need tons of sets...

3. Cost a lot and you need LOTS: to be really usable you need ~10 sets of Dwarven Forge (15 if you want to do caverns too) which is $750 or so. Then you need A LOT of extra 3x3 floor tiles and LOTS of extra 3" walls and 3" hallways

just my 2cp from extensive use
