| R.I.P.
G'Kar was far and away my favorite character in B5... I always played the narn when I played the CCG because of that as well!

| wow, bummer...I just finished watching season 5 yesterday and I still have to watch River of Souls and A Call to Arms. Great actor and will miss him but will enjoy his acting for years to come. He also played a great Romulan (Commander Tomalak). [:(]
quote: "There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain."

| Babylon 5 is my favorite series, due in no small part to the incredible contributions by Andreas. He was exceptionally talented at his craft, and brought something special to a genre that typically lacked real depth of character.
He is the second major actor from the Babylon 5 series to pass (Richard Biggs, Dr. Stephen Franklin). | | Champion of Meepo _*_ Myztek on the Wizards Boards. _*_ (2206 DDM on 03/06/06) Please note: The use of the indicates an attempt at humor ... often a bad attempt. | | He and Peter Jurasik really elevated that show from 'meh' to 'very good' with their performances. Sad to see him go so young. | | Anson on WotC boards

There was also Tim Choate. Although he may not have been a "major" character, Zathras was certainly a significant character.
I originally stumbled on the news of Andreas' passing this morning during my (non-approved) web surfing at work. I was simply stunned. Andreas and Peter (Jurasik) certainly made B5 what it is. Their actions and interactions kept the series from getting dull and allowed JMS the time to make what could have been an easily forgettable show into something memorable.
I've always been on the "more B5" front, but after Andreas' passing--I don't know anymore. I simply cannot imagine a B5 without G'Kar.
While typing this, my mind has been spinning through the images I've seen over the years, and two stick out as particularly amusing.
First: I managed to catch this on TV's Bloopers and Practical Jokes. G'Kar and Londo are going at each other like usual, and after the two exchange pronunciations of "Centauri" (Cen-Tor-E/Cen-Tar-E) they finish by singing "po-tay-toe"/"po-tah-toe"/"let's call the whole thing off."
Second: This is a picture (off-set) of Andreas in full costume--with a smoke hanging out of the side of his mouth. It just struck me as funny.
Rest well, Andreas. | | Champion of the Werewolf Lord, Knight of Anything Duergar, and Squire of Things Gnollish List reset with the start of previews for each new set...got Chainmail®?
