| | This deserved its on topic. I am truly sorry for you guys. Your organization has jumped the shark into the realm of they can barely be considered a hockey team. They traded Samsanov for Marty reasonor, some guy thats played in germany the last 4 years, and a 2nd rd pick... Its insane with the trading of Joey T. and now Sergei, they really seem like the Reds, a team that just doesnt want to win. | | Im out- find me on Hordelings if you want to chat. | |

| I think when they traded Joey T that was the start of it all for them this time. Or even when they let Ray go cause he wanted too win a cup...which he did but its hard on the team. Some bad trades there... GO HABS GO!!![:p] | | Champion of the Peryton Vindicated Champion : Pit Fiend, Devourer DW: Duergar Priest RPG Only!!!! The Drumming Drunkn' DM | |

| I'm a Chicago Blackhawks fan myself, but anything that screams NHL needs to be read! I agree with you to a certain degree, but you have to consider that the Bruins probably will be on the outside looking in once the playoffs start. You might argue that they're only seven points out of a playoff berth, but let's look at some facts:
The current eighth seed in the East, Montréal Canadiens is on pace for a 90 point season, and Boston Bruins is on a pace for 79 points. How difficult will it be for Boston to catch Montréal and the three teams between them (Atlanta, Toronto and the Islanders)? Well, if Boston plays as good as the Carolina Hurricanes has been doing all season (the team with the best winning percentage in the league, no less!) for the last 20 games, they will end up with ... 89 points. Still a point shy of Montréal's projected total. Not only that, but none of the teams mentioned above are allowed to have good ends to their season if Boston is to squeeze in.
I'm not saying it's impossible (tragically, it is for Chicago), but it's highly unlikely. They're trying to build for the future here (it might not be the right way, as I wouldn't have traded away Samsonov, but they needed to do something).

| I used to be the biggest hockey fan. I've got my college and bruins sweaters up in the closet. I went to every U of ME Hockey game during my 5 years at the school (Paul Kariya vs. college kids YIKES!).
The Bruins were my team, and hockey was my sport. It was when Kasper was first hired that I started to find other things to watch. Great player, terrible coach.
I had a bit of a renaissance when Bourque was in the Playoff's. He deserved a cup for all the crap he took.
But then I stopped altogether. I told myself that they needed to redo the CBA, and then the Bruins wacky math would match everyone elses, and I'd have a team to root for again.
Alas: NO. Mike O'Connel is the worst possible GM in Hockey. I can't stand that he didn't get canned already. I never had a huge problem with Harry Sinden (he had a budget, and he did the best he could), but compare what O'Connel did with the salary cap vs the rest of the league.
Pathetic. The Bruins will miss the playoffs. O'Connel will get fired, and it will take 3 more years to try to rebuild the team that O'Connel stripped this year...

| | Well the Bruins are my 2nd fav team, sadly Toronto is my fav. Why they stuck Toronto in the same division is a whole other topic, but sadly this year I don't plan to see either in the post season. I don't know what's worse the Bruins trading away Samsanov or Toronto doing NOTHING! | | "I was sittin' here eatin' my muffin, drinkin' my coffee, replayin' the incident in my head, when I had what alcoholics refer to as a moment of clarity." - Jules Winnfield Sales/Trades Bad (1): Ironfist Boulderbender Trades/Sales completed (8.): Danthl, Dafrca, Garyaxe, qillan_dvra, realmaster, Vandal_Savage, cavedweller, unearthed arcana. | Way to go Joe! Three more assists for Mr. Thorton, I think he is ahead of Jagr in the scoring race. Oh I'm sorry that's right, he plays for the Sharks now. BURN!

| I love hockey and I am a big Bruins fan. It is easy to bash O'Connell for the moves he has made/not made during his tenure, however the Samasonov and Thornton trades are NOT among them.
Thornton had shown no leadership spark during his entire stay with the Bruins. There were often long stretches of games where he would be all but invisible. Regardless of the points he is putting up, last time I checked the Sharks are still on the outside looking in. Thornton is the Peyton Manning of the NHL. Great player but can't get it done when it counts. (Yes I know he was injured during the playoffs last year, but there wasn't exactly a string of success before that either).
I love Samsanov, he is fun to watch when he has his game going but the last two years he has been plagued by injuries (back and wrist problems, not exactly what you want to see with a goal scorer) and he is a free agent this summer. The Bruins made a move to get something for him and at least hinted that they would look to resign him this summer if the price is right.
The B's problems for the most part from what I have seen and heard this year is a lack of timely goaltending (with the exception of Thomas' string of games before the Olympic break)and key defensive lapses during every game. None of which Samsonov or Thornton exactly can help.
Sorry for the length of post, I get a little passionate about my favorite teams sometimes.

| | ive been a bruins fan since the late 70s and i am beyond disgusted. for the last 10 years the former gm harry sinden said that teams were going bankrupt and once a salary cap came into play the bruins would sepnd money on players and be competive. they had a huge ad campaign before the season started saying all that mattered was the cup. They signed old players and were not competive on making legit offers to key free agents. they have one of the worst defensive lines in the game. Thornton was expected to carry the team on his back and it wasnt in his makeup. there doesnt seem to be any immediate hope unlike th other boston teams. Tehy could have built a great tema around Thornton but they seemed to be caught unprepared for a new labor agreement that they had been preaching to the fans for years. The organization still makes enough money on merchandise and the tv deal so they are under no pressure to win. it is very sad | | The ROCK layeth the smacketh down. | The team needs a change in ownership. Too many seasons of just being good enough to make the playoffs, and maybe making a lucky run at the cup ('88 and '90). Also tearing down the "Gahden" was mistake too. Team was built for a smallish rink. The "hanger" feels too antiseptic. Bleech. Sinden may have had a budget, but at least he could evaluate talent. I can't believe how little they got for Joe and Samsonov. If they lose Bergereon, might as well move the team to Winnepeg.
Fortunately for me, there has been college hockey. I was in school at UMaine when they won in '93. Yes, Paul Kariya was phenominal, but in the finals, it was Jim Montgomery that won it. Anyway, going to the games was amazing. Living on the west coast, I get very little college hockey, mostly webcasts, but have taking a liking to major junior, we have a team here in Everett.
What does all this mean, I'm done with the B's until Jeremy Jacobs, Mike O'Connell et. al. are run out of town. They have conned the fans of Boston for long enough. I'd rather listen to dial-up webcast than witness another embarassment by the B's. Seen three games on TV, all losses.

| Are they still playing???
Watch High School Hockey instead, my hometown girls won the State Division 1 Hockey Tournement this past week...they know how to win!
State Champs 3 of the past 4 years (and lost in the finals last year). This year was a "rebuiling year" and they went into the tourney as the 6th seed having dropped a couple of games during the season. They beat the 11th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st seeds on their way to the title, so it was not cakewalk. | | Built the addition for this addiction, now on to the "gaming table" project.... http://www.maxminis.com/hw_list.asp?user=Zenako last updated 29 May 2006 Set Status: in a nutshell = all of all In Process trades 0), (Sig last updated 05/29/06) 300 plus Completed Trades -
