I read about this months ago. Very cool setup, they bypassed the regular power grid. Aparently the FBI gets regular alerts from the power companies when there are spikes in the grid. This lets them obtain warrents and bust some of the more small time operations. These guys tapped into the grid, likely through the underground network they built. It was a pretty tight setup they had, it's pretty likely they were betrayed on the inside.
