| | they advertise every other commercial on scifi. i have a bad feeling about it. most of their original movies have been bombs. they say the story has come out before narnia and lotor but ive never heard of it. is this any relation to dragonslayer the movie? | | The ROCK layeth the smacketh down. | | Well coming from someone who doesn't have cable I'll offer my thanks for the heads up. It looks quite interesting. Lots of talent in the cast, lets hope the story allows them to play in to it and the CGI Fafnir isn't a let down. | | You see! There ARE others out there just like me. What? Why are laughing? | |

Its based on the Wagnerian opera from the 1800's "The ring of the Nibelung"
The ring cycle is 4 operas lasting 15 hours total, they have adapted it down to 4 hours on the Scifi channel.

LOL[:D]
I have heard the operas(or part of them anyway),read the graphic novels, and seen many an adaptation (includeing a two part Xena), and the bugs bunny cartoon is my favorite.

| | This was suprisingly really good, leaps beyond the usual "made for Sci-fi channel" schlok and way, way , way better than this years crappy D&D movie. I actually didn't find myself cringing once for a fantasy film, which is a rare exception usually saved for things like LotR and the 13th Warrior. I'll probably buy this on DVD to watch it again and I'd love to the see the European version which I'm sure is better. This movie is bloody and dark, and doesn't have a happy ending which refreshing. It also does a good job at addressing paganism vs christianity in context with the story. a 4 star "B" movie the biggest drag is at roughly 130 mins running time Sci Fi is running 1 hour and 50 mins of commericials. Fire up your tivo for this one. | | Check out The Old Coast my online Greyhawk campaign featuring all maxmini's members!, and.........Champion of Aspect of Zuggtmoy | |

| I'm with oldcoast on this one. I liked it, and I usually can't stomach Sci-Fi Channel's homebrews. It could have been pared down quite a bit further, I think. There was alot of "dead time" where nothing really happened.
And I couldn't keep from singing...

| The actors and actresses were pleasing to the eye and the fight scenes were pretty reasonable with not much that was objectionable. Too bad the queen felt that way at the end...
Fafnir was reasonable, but since the battle was constrained, it made the effects easier to contain. There was no sightings of the Dragon outside the cave, at least until it was slain...
I did rewatch much of it since SciFi had it on back to back to back...
and there were some scenes where I am sure a "european edition" might be much more interesting.... | | Built the addition for this addiction, now on to the "gaming table" project.... http://www.maxminis.com/hw_list.asp?user=Zenako last updated 29 May 2006 Set Status: in a nutshell = all of all In Process trades 0), (Sig last updated 05/29/06) 300 plus Completed Trades -

It was good/decent for TV, but it that came out in the theater, it would have stunk! | | Originally posted by Schooly_D Username - he deals in minis Champion of Lhesh Haruuc Shaarat'kor

| | I didn't think was terrible, for a cable movie. I'd give it a B or B+ as a B movie. I thought the Sci-Fi D&D movie was much better. | |

Whoa, what are you smoking? Obviously if you thought the D&D movie was better a discussion about the merits of "B" movies is pretty pointless. | | I thought it was pretty good for SciFi. A lot of these kind of movies are just too low budgeted to be done right. They did a good job for what I am sure was a small amount of money to work with.
