| I'm currently working on an ethnography of "gamers." I need to collect a selection of sample data from a cross-section of gamers and this seemed like a fairly likely place. The study is not remotely comprehensive or exhaustive (it's for a 10-20 page term project). I am looking for 10-20 volunteers who would be willing to answer a series of questions. The interviews would be conducted via e-mail and all information would be kept private (names changed, etc.).
If anyone feels kindly enough to consider volunteering an hour or so to this little project either reply here or send me an e-mail.
As an aside I would particulary be interested in obtaining data on at least one female gamer.

| Before I were to volunteer id just have a few questions, what level of work is this for? high school? undergrad? grad? if its grad (or even upper level undergrad) do you have Human subjects committee forms (or whatever the equivalent at your university is) filled out? Also as an ethnographic interviewer, I would suggest that if you truly want interviews you should do them over a messenger, email would slow the needed feedback and give and take that makes ethnography a worthwhile task. Email form would seem much more like a questionairre, which would get very different results.
If it is college work:
Also what subject is this for? Sociology? I have a collection of rich data on female gamers from a series of ethnographic interviews I've worked on in the past (and I am getting ready to turn back to in an examination of gamer culture). If it is sociology (or any other liberal art pretty much) if you drop me an email I can assist with some sources you may or may not have, as well as disucss what kind of theoretical implications (if any) you plan to draw. | |

Thanks, but I've already finished the theoretical groudwork. I just need data to either confirm or refute my hypothesis.
It's a term paper for an upper-division theory class. The professor wants it to be as informal as possible and use our course texts (Muggleton, Hebdige, and Leblanc) both as models and as concepts to either support or refute.
