| You've probably heard that Google is now offering a free (and ad-free!) web hosting service to Gmail account owners. There's 100 megs of space (I hope it'll increase in the future, but it's pretty decent as is), and a deceptively simple online WYSWYG page editor. The editor is wholly JavaScript-driven and similar to Gmail's interface; there are a few page style and layout templates, and from there it's just like working in a text editor (though you can always go in and modify the HTML to a certain degree).
I've been thinking about creating a website for my Rebirth Forgotten Realms campaign for a while, but I always put it off for some reason: time issues, no decent free hosting service, lack of ideas for site design, sick to death of coding, etc. When I heard of Google Pages I realized it may be what I need - a simple site that i can work on wherever I go, whenever I have the time, and not have to worry about stylesheets, scripting, dynamic pages, and so on. I plan on adding a minis section eventually. Those who are familiar with my activities on the old Interplay forums (Dargoth for sure, maybe some others?) will remember my Project Jefferson FAQ, which I plan on re-posting on the site (for nostalgia purposes). As it is, I hope some of you may find some RPG material useful, and others may enjoy reading about my campaign. I'll try to update it as often as possible. | |
