| Just finished the first bout of the 2006 season and it was a blast! Don't have a bunch of pics yet, just this from the local news so far:

My wife you can kinda make out in pic 2 ... she's in the center holding a whiteboard with blond pigtails. I'm in pic 2 as a blur though, the left-most blur inside the track.
Roxy in pic 4 could cick the hind-quarters of any gamer I've ever met.
Eris in pic 9 must weight 100 pounds wet, 90 pounds if you cut her hair. She's an awesome skater though and had some of the best take-outs I've seen sending girls almost twice her size flying into the audience.
Better shot of me in pic 11, but you can only see my leg (black pants, long red stripe down the side) and some of my torso (the zebra shirt attached to that leg).
Best part though is that I scored a comp ticket for my FLGS owner and she brought her mother ... and had a great time. I also spotted Forkedmoon and Legend in the crowd and I'm curious if they enjoyed it.

| If I were in High School, I'd dream about this. As it is, I'm an adult and I get to live it, which pretty much rocks. You have to be 18 to sit on the floor near the rink though, just in case one of the skaters goes hurling into the crowd (which must have happened a dozen times during the bout).
We only had one real injury; one of the girls got tripped and took a face plant into the floor ... but a busted lip isn't all that bad. We also had a camera tripod taken out by a skater ... it was mangled but she's ok (just a few bruises I think).
What's more amusing is the realization I came to last night. I still play rec hockey ... but we're pretty much a no-body-checking league. Sure, you bump into folks, sure there's pushing, etc. But then ...
My wife plays a contact sport.
I don't know why it amuses me that she plays a sport that knocking the crap out of someone else is such an integral part of it whereas I'm playing hockey and it just seems so much more sissy than roller derby....

I'm Voodoo (Killer). Everyone already started calling me Mr. Killer and I ended up just going with Voodoo since that is one of my favorite words. Kinda like Seinfeld w/ "salsa" ... he just likes the way it sounds.
This opens the door for my 6-year-old to name her self after one of her favorite songs. She now insists that, when she skates, everyone address her as Psycho Killer. My two-year old is, apparrently, Baby Killer.
All kinds of politically-incorrect fun! | |
