| I'm not. I think a lot of people would be surprised to find out that I'm not really like my Maxminis persona. Like a lot of people I think, I'm much more open and outgoing on an "anonymous" message board than I am in real life.
So what about you? Is what we all see through your posts really reflective of the real life you, or different? | | WotC - making me wish more and more every day for a return to the TSR days. :( I fought the snark and the snark won. I'm baaaaaaaaaaack!

| I'm a bit more verbose in person, it has to with how slow I type and how busy my phone is. That's why my posts are as short as they are. (been working on this one over 10 minutes now)
I'm also a bit more vulgar in person. | |

| Well....My persona in the boards is I try to be likable to everybody and never try to upset anyone. I like to be liked. Yet Im very opinionated..and alot of those opinions dont agree with the majority...So I usually keep it to myself. Every once in a while I open up and complain abaout something that I dislike. Im usually accused of being a complainer and that Im never happy. So I shut up and try to be liked again.
Its a vicious cycle.

This is definetly the truth. I don't hear nearly as many outspoken exclamations from Ghendar during our weekly game.
I'm on the flip side of things. I think i tend to be willing to shout out my opinion about whatever the subject is while here I don't do that as much. | I prattle on a lot longer on these threads than in an actual conversation since there's no one to stop me ;p
Aside from that, I joke around a lot more outside the boards. It's not so much that I don't want to joke around on these boards as a lot of what I would call funny either involves a quick back-and-forth that really isn't the same when typed out, or involves a man being hit with a plank of wood.

| First of all, I want to thank all those who said that they cuss more in real life than on maxminis. I want to thank them for holding back and/or editing here. It's nice to not see very much of that here.
To be honest, I don't really know how much different I am here than I am in person. I might act differently. I'm not sure. Generally, I don't try to put up facades anywhere. There are some things I generally avoid posting about here that I would be more inclined to talk about in person. That list would include religion. I have a little tiny quote in my signature. In person, I would be very willing to discuss that openly. However, the little quote in my signature is about as much as I will talk about that topic here (outside a very rare post like this one) out of respect for the purpose of this website community is to discuss D&D and closely related topics and not for people to have discussions about the topic I am writing obliquely about. In truth, I would answer questions in an email directed to me. But that probably won't happen much at all.
I am quite practiced in self-analysis and attempt to have complete honesty with myself when I do so. Otherwise, what's that point of self-analysis? To fool myself? What my self-analysis tells me is that I want to be a better person than I am, and that I have many areas I have to work on for that to happen.

I can see that. You're definitely shy, retiring, and soft-spoken. Definitely not forward or confrontational [:P]
(Sorry, I've been reading the Feminist thread and very few posters there are shy, retiring, or soft-spoken).
Me? You basically get what you get. I don't have time to powder and primp just so people think I'm something I'm not. I'm rather sarcastic in-person and I tend to pepper my posts with various smilies in a futile attempt to suggest my tone. Sadly, authorial intentions are a fallacy [:D]
As an aside, much like Corim Danex I don't overtly discuss religion on these boards (we're here to discuss minis) but in-person I frequently engage in philosophical/religious discussions/debates/analysis.

| Avatar selection and constructed persona vs. the Real are two topics we've been playing with in my Pop Culture theory class. Incredibly interesting stuff. A thread like this is rather ironic since there's limited means to assess the veracity of each person's claim. Or, is the persona portrayed here the 'Real' person and the daily manifestation merely a facade?
