| Great day indeed!!!
I was a little down on the goal the wings scored in the second over time against the oilers. As it was just a regular shot at the net.
But my local team did well Ottawa and my fav team the Habs are tonight..cross fingers.
And was excited when the flames scored the game winner!

| Watching the Avs come from behind to embarass the NoStars was sweetness. With their special teams and the number of penalties being called so far in the playoffs, I really like the Avs chances in this series.
My completely unqualified, called shots:
Detwah beats Edmonton in 7, tense games
The SJ Farce beats a playoff unprepared Nashville
Calgary had better beat Team Disney
Avs beat Dallas (I hope!)
Sens beat Tampa Bay
Carolina deafeats the Habs, and the fans up North riot[:D]

Detroit will handle Edmonton.
Dallas will beat Colorado
Calgary will beat Anaheim.
San Jose will beat Nashville.
Tampa Bay will upset Ottawa. (yes I'm serious)
Carolina will beat Montreal.
New Jersey will beat New York Rangers.
Buffalo will beat Philadelphia.
I actually liked the Rangers to upset the Devils, but if Jagr misses any time they don't have a chance. | |

How are they unprepared for the playoffs? They have one of the best powerplays in the league (though it didn't show up in game 2) and while losing Vokoun hurts, Mason can fill that hole well enough. I don't disagree with the assement that SJ wins it, but they win it on the strong play of the scoring leader and Rocket Richard winner not because Nashville in unprepared. | |

I already qualified that my pix were unqualified. [:p]
That said, SJ's organization has a history of being prepared and overperforming in the playoffs. Nashville has only been to the playoffs once as an organization and, unfortunately for them, had a soft schedule (with exception of one game against Detroit) leading into the playoffs. This is all I meant by "unprepared". Don't hit me! [:D]

the thing that burns me about these playoffs is that lack of TV coverage. Playoff hockey every night and I can only watch it on Sat and Sun when NBC actually airs one (and only one) game a day. It is absolutely horrible! My cable provider does not provide OLN so all the games on that channel,(including the first 2 games of the finals) I will not be able to watch. This is torture.
I would've thought NBC could've put games on their other stations like MSNBC and CNBC like they did with the Olympics lesser events. But NOOOOOOO....I find it very sad when Hockey (the best sport in the world) get lesser ratings than politcial talks shows and senate meetings. That is sad. The sport can't build a new audience if they don't give it fair TV coverage. After all the new rules they implemented to help the sport be more mainstream marketable I would've thought they would want better tv coverage for the playoff season.

I sympathize completely. The only way for me to get OLN is to go digital on the cable--and I don't have that kind of scratch. I mean, that's another 5-7 boosters a month!
And it's not just about ratings. It's also about costs. Part of the reason that poker TV shows (*blech* with the exception of Bravo's Celebrity Poker) are all over the place is that they are CHEAP to produce.
Unfortunately, they're also getting decent ratings (which I cannot fathom). That's another stone 'round hockey's neck. | |

| Well, the Avs really need to do their best to close out a dangerous Dallas club tonight! The longer they let them hang around, the more the Stars may start to believe that they can come back. GO AVS!!!!
Unfortunately, with Detroit pulling even with Edmonton, I think the Wings probably have the inside track in that series. If so, my beloved Avalanche will be walking into a buzzsaw. If Detroit can survive round 1, I'm afraid they're going to roll through the rest of the playoffs. Stupid Red Wings. | |

I think there has only been 2 teams to come back from 3 games down, so I think the Avs are pretty safe to advance...

| I'm tired of the bloody Wings winning all the time as well. I'd love to see Edmonton upset the wings, but agree with Rhane that the advantage is squarely with Detroit now that the series is even and going back to Hockey Town.
Don't count the Avs out if they beat the Stars and face Detroit in round 2. Although they did miserably against the Wings during the regular season, playoff matchups between the two have always been barn burners.
