| | The Bears, being cheap bastiges, will trade their first round pick for a bag of donuts and some sausages. Because, of course, having a TE that can catch the ball seems completely unrealistic. | | | |

| Lookis like the chefs (chiefs for those not in the K.C. region) appear to actually going after a CB. Which is something they have been needing. But the main concern I have not heard addressed is that of the guards and tackles. I mean we need some balance as our offense is starting to age (as a whole and at least Trent ain't getting any younger)

a mock draft shows them taking vince young from texas in the first round but mock drafts do not mean too much and in the raiders past they sit them on the bench and bring in a veteran.

Huh?
Green Bay better get their heads out of their sphincters! Favre is DONE, man. He's still good, but he's not the Favre of old--He needs a good line and some good receivers if they want to make it anywhere.

| Green Bay wasted a first round pick on a QB last year (Aaron Rodgers), they weren't going to spend another 1st rounder on a QB this year too.
Chicago, of course, traded away their first rounder, and spent their first 4 or 5 picks on defense, to bolster that paltry #1 or #2 ranked defense, while ignoring their high octane 29th or 30th ranked offense. And, of course, they lose out on the TE they really need...1 pick before theirs.

| Could be worse, you could root for a team that took a "non-athletic" center 3 rounds early, then traded 2 third round picks to move to the end of the 2nd round to take a QB no one has heard of.
Basically, we traded Culpepper for a non-athletic center! (that is no endorsement of Culpepper, but come one, that's your pick!) | | Fastest dropping DCI ranking on record! Champion of Juiblex | |

And the better move for them. D'Brickashaw was the other good choice for them. David Carr takes more hits than a Frenzied Berserker behind that craptastic O-line. They did a nice job of filling there with Spencer and Winston. Chester Pitts should be moved inside.
As for Green Bay, Thompson traded and traded and traded to get more picks, but lost out on a lot of quality doing so. He's the albino Denny trying to prove he's smarter than everyone by grabbing no-naames from small schools.
Oh, and he took a stinking linebacker with the #5. Nice value there, idiot. Swing for the fences, don't choke up. The picks they traded were used for Chad Jackson, Jason Avent and Dominique Byrd, all of whom they could have used. They got a lot of potential depth, but only one sure starter out of the draft.

| It was a pretty boring draft, really. Watching three U$C jerks players fall (Bush from 1 to 2, Leinart from a lock at 1 last year to 10 this year, and White to pick 45 from mid 1st projections in December) was fun. Can you tell I'm a Cal fan that hates U$C?
I didn't like any of the options on the board when the Raiders picked at 7. I'd rather have seen them trade down and get a few more players than overpay for a CB. If the guy can't shut down 1/2 the field, he shouldn't be a top 10 CB and he shouldn't be making the money he will make.
However, I thought the 49ers got excellent value at 6 with Vernon Davis. An excellent player in a void they needed to fill - skilled receiver. They already had a decent receiving tight end, but a 2 TE formation won't hurt the 49ers in the least.
I thought that the winner of the day was the Saints. They got the #1 player in the draft and didn't need to trade up to get him. If they wanted to trade up to get the best player in the draft from the #2 position, it normally would have cost them a 2nd rd pick to do so ... and they got to do it for free.
Regardless, I'm not a fan fo the draft system anymore. Bad teams are getting penalized by drafting early.
When you draft early, you get the rights to an unproved kid. You then have to pay that kid a gross amount of money, even though you have no real idea if he'll pan out. If he does, you might get enough value out of him to justify that huge signing bonus that crippled your salary cap position for the upcoming 5 years ... and if he doesn't, you have to cover the cost of that signing bonus in your upcoming seasons cap, which leaves you with less money to compete. By the time these guys get to be good enough to be worth the cash they are paid, they leave via free agency.
There are a few positions where you can get early production: LB, DT, OG, RB, FB, and sometimes WR ... but for the most part, those early picks are things that hamstring a franchise. Just look what Ryan Leaf did to the Chargers ...

| Well the draft is always a gamble thats part of the fun. The problem with the draft is too many teams risk it on "projects" and "potential" rather than solid players. There will always be bombs here or there, San Diego trading the farm for Leaf is a perfect example. QBs are always one of the riskiest picks. The 49ers were a good example of a solid draft, they went after near sure thing players instead of projects and potential. Drafting on potential (SD's horrid pick of Comartie this year) will only bite you in the rear.
I thought this year was a pretty enjoyable draft, lots of trades, lots of players dropping further than expected etc.
