Another good thing if you live in a colder area is a carseat cover. They are great for the winter. They go right over the carseat so you just tuck a blanket around the baby and cover, no need for bulky coats.

I got the huge green one free from the hospital, but that thing can suck the brains right outta your baby, so we got the smaller, gentler white one, just in case [:p]
One thing I ask my mother to make for us as I couldn't find it anywhere for sale, was a neck pillow for my son. There are neck pillows that wrap around your neck so when you are travelling in car/train/airplane/etc and fall sleep your head doesn't wobble like a turkey all over the place; once we flipped the car seat and placed it a bit more vertical this was a good thing for my son; I hated seeing him looking like his head was about to drop. | |

Of course now you can find them everywhere! Actually, thanks Glu. I need to pick up to for my daughters as now they are in bosster seats (the 2 big ones) they have no neck support. | |

We are waiting to find out the gender on the 20th week, and it is week 9 I believe. We are going to see/hear the heartbeat on the 30th of this month.

| The swing-o-matic is the greatest invention since the wheel. I swear the guy who invented it should get the Nobel Prize. And the arch-thing that plays music was also a fave of Jeffy Dragonmuncher.
Also, you might want to invest in a noisy hair dryer. It really calmed our son's colic. We even made a tape recording of it, and play it all night long to this day!
The best baby books we bought were "What to Expect During the First Year" and "The Happiest Baby on the Block." Good stuff.
Oh, and the Diaper Genie worked fine for us until it broke. Now we just take the trash out 2 or 3 times a day. [:)]

Then, I pleaded for a boy for the third rugrat and got a girl...
And finally, I whined, wheedled, and begged for a boy and guess what?
Yup, another girl...that's karma for ya, but I wouldn't give any of them up. [)]

I have two daughters and they're fantastic! Much easier to deal with than boys in some ways from what I hear. Well at least I've never been pee'ed on during a diaper change. | |
