Well, I am bumming; I've had this one very comfortable chair at work for over 3 years now...it is big and supports my back like no other crappy chair they give you around.

So I am sitting doing some work (posting here) yesterday and all of a sudden my chair drops down as the loud pffffssss sound comes out and I find myself with my chest at the keyboard, funny as hell but not cool. [B)]

I've tried several times to move the lever so the air comes in and the chair can lift again and nothing. Anyone know how to fix these things?

I hate to move to the "ergonomic" yet incredibly uncomfortable chairs they have now.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sitting in the chair while using the lever? I've had chairs that wouldn't raise while I was sitting on them. If not, my guess is the seal on the pneumatic broke and your prolly SOL.

Of course not, I've tried just about everything; flipped the chair to check the mechanics, etc. I wish I knew were the seal was so I don't waste any more time on it.

Bummer, thx for the reply.

Just put some bricks or something under the chair to raise it up. Either that, or you could fix it with the handy mans secret weapon... DUCT TAPE!

see if you can find an old chair you can use for parts. I know a lot fo the chairs just have 4 or five bolts that attach them to the leg. If you can find an old one that matchs up close swap them out or just tap new holes in the chair for it to fit on the leg.

I generaly use intimidation on chairs, not sure if it would work with this one.

Pathetic Earthlings. Hurling your bodies out into the void - without the slightest inkling of who or what is out here. If you had known anything about the true nature of the universe - anything at all - you would have hidden from it in terror.

I don't think bricks would go over well at this office [)]

Sadly there's nothing to duct tape [:(] and I tried harvesting old parts but what makes this damn chair so comfortable is the back rest and that's attached to the pneumatic part.

Intimidation was my first solution, this chair owns my ass [)]

I am having them order me a new one, granted will not be the same model but it is as close as I can get; I'll just have to say goodbye to this one and get used to the new one [B)]

Thanks!

That's a bit wierd, I don't think I've ever seen one set up like that. Sorry about the luck.
