| Can anyone figure out how long it will be until Drizzt will be worth as much as a house if he keeps increasing in price at the same rate? You can't really answer this question accurately. House values grow and shrink at various rates. Further, home value differ drastically in different areas of the world. As an additional problem, Drizzt's value has not been steadily increasing, but has leaped. As a final problem, Drizzt's starting value is hard to ascertain, as he was part of a booster that cost $9.99.
However, with some approximation, I can attempt something close.
Estimated initial value of Drizzt: $5. Estimated first purchase of Drizzt: May 2004. Estimated Current value of Drizzt based on average of Ebay completed average and OPG prices: $112. Time between May 2004 and present: 24 months / 2 years. Calculated growth rate of Drizzt: ~470% per year
Assumed present home value: $250,000 Assumed home growth rate: 10% per year.
Answer: Roughly 5 years and 3 months. If everyting followed these trends, you can move into Drizzt in roughly August of 2011.
However, I tend to doubt Drizzt will actually get above $200 | | Champion of Meepo _*_ Myztek on the Wizards Boards. _*_ (2206 DDM on 03/06/06) Please note: The use of the indicates an attempt at humor ... often a bad attempt. BAD EBAY SELLERS LIST (CLICK HERE): AVOID AT ALL COSTS

| You got some investment property you looking at???
Lets see Drizzt was released almost exactly 2 years ago. Box price was $10 Retail, and most algorithms for aportioning box value would yield a Rare Price of ballpark $6.00.
Price remained slowly climbing for the first year, so that it was perhaps double in value after 12 months. Last fall he rose to close to triple value ($20). This past winter the market exploded and prices of as high as $100 were seen. The rate of rise is almost exponential (the fit is ok), it will be worth about $330,000 in about 110 months total, or just 86 months to go, about 7 years. | | Built the addition for this addiction, now on to the "gaming table" project.... http://www.maxminis.com/hw_list.asp?user=Zenako last updated 29 May 2006 Set Status: in a nutshell = all of all In Process trades 0), (Sig last updated 05/29/06) 300 plus Completed Trades -

Hey, you can't pull one over on me buddy. If I adjust the price of drizzt to put current 2006 dollars in may 2004 dollars to account for inflation, he's only worth 106.

| | Problem is that Drizzt's original value was neither $5 nor $6, it was $1.25, or 1/8 of the $10 that the booster cost. | | Champion of the Gelatinous Cube. Nemesis of Gnomes and Dinosaurs.

Nope...if the 8 minis were equal and interchangeable then you would be correct, much like the value of each egg in a carton of a dozen. However, the distribution is not equal as you well know. Kind of like having 8 bills of currency in your wallet and considering them all to be 1/8 of your money. On a certain level you are correct, however if you have a $20, 3 x $5's and 4 x $1's I am pretty sure you would not consider them all equal bills. While you are more than free to pose this position, I am positive that you will find very few if any who would really put that position into practice. So no, the value of the rare is approximately half the value of the booster, with the balance being split between the other minis.

| So how much house can I buy if Drizzt 7 years from now was converted to Canadian Dollars?
If George Bush keeps screwing up the U.S. economy, and the Canadian dollar becomes worth more than the U.S dollar, can I still buy a house or am I limited to a trailer park trailer?
If WOTC issues an Epic Drizzt Card, can I get an optional tennis court, swimming pool and maid service for a year in my Canadian Drizzt house? | | "GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff Winnipeg's source for RPGs and minis!" www.gameknight.ca

| It is always interesting when a Canadian reflects on the US Political spectrum. :)
I for one believe, and every official point of reference that you can find backs me up, that the US Economy is actually doing pretty damn well considering the mess it was in in 2000 (after 8 years of ****upboy) and then 2001 after September 11th.
Your mileage may vary, and I won't argue that the American Dollar isn't dropping in value among the world market, but the economy is hardly "screwed up".
Now the spending of our great nation CAN be directly linked to our President and our RINO congress.

| So, anyone have a decent-sized piece of property (house included, naturally) and want to enter into a legally-binding agreement to trade my Drizzt for your property in 7 years?
[:p]
Somehow I think that the growth rate of the Drizzt won't continue at its recent rate for another 7 years. Anyone remember Cabbage Patch Kids or Beanie Babies?

| There is always a strange phenomenon in high value collectibles like Drizzt. I have played MTG for a number of years and have watched the prices move on the Black Lotus over the years. When I started it went for $300 then stagnated for a number of years around $300-350. Then something strange happened, they pretty much instantly jumped to $600. If the market dried up and there were none for sale and the only people left holding one had paid the previous guide price of $300-350, I guess the $600 tag would be appropriate to make some money. (Hobby retailers usually expect a 40-50% gross profit.) Then I got out of the game for a while and when I came back the price was around $2,000. I know the type 1 world championship skewed pricing as all the champ hopefuls bought one regardless of price, but that was quite a jump!
If you watch ebay for a while and the number of Drizzt's available dwindle from 10 to 2, you can bet a price jump is looming. If you assume that all the future Drizzt's available for sale have a current cost of $75, what will the future price be? Maybe $100 to $150.
