Yes, it does look awful but my wife is interested nonetheless and since I dragged her to watch X3, she feels I owe her.
Ghost Rider looks cool but Nicholas Cage is as talented as a turd. I expect another Daredevil with better FXs.
X3 rocked! If you expect to see the comics it will probably suck for you, but then again, who goes to the movies expecting to see an accurate account. I saw it as a what if?

| I haven't seen this yet, but I did see a short clip with some truly awful FX in it - was a scene of Wolverine getting thrown at a big robot.
I'm curious if those of you who have said the effects were good would consider that a well-done shot or not - if you do, then that helps me make my viewing decision more easily... | | Anson on WotC boards

| OK...Special effects rule.
Characters jumping, flying or being thrown....Thats the exception to the rule. Those look obviosly like wire work.
Dont let a silly thing like that discurage you from seeing the movie though. | | Champion of the Skulk Vindicated Champion of the Twig Blight

Well given that my expectations of the plot/acting/etc are very, very, low, there's not much left to encourage me to go. :) | | Anson on WotC boards

| | I just got back and I loved it! I went in (after reading non-geek reviews, mind you) expecting Batman & Robin and was overwhelmingly satisfied. IMHO, it wasn't as good as the other 2 (especially X2) but that's not saying much as I thought the first two were some of the best comic book movies ever. There could have been a few less subplots only due to the fact that it seemed too crowded and rushed, but the plots were all related to the central plot, so nothing seemed out of place. All in all, I'd say if you were thinking about going, go, you'll not be disappointed. If you need convincing or don't know much about the X-Men, you'll still probably like the movie, but don't expect the world. | | KoK: MiNi Apostle CHAMPION of STURM, SOLAMNIC KNIGHT | |

| | Finally got to see it tonight and thought it topped the first two films. It felt darker and a little less PG-13 then the first two which I liked. The Beast was absolutely represented the way I expected and I was very happy. The only gripe about the whole movie for me is the Juggernaught, what were they thinking? I guess he was kinda funny. Obviously not, it could have been a lot better but I guess they wanted to save on effects somewhere because the rest of the movie has tons of them and nicely done too. | | Trades >> Completed: 49 | Bad: Ø | Pending: 0 | Trade & talk Live on IRC! SERVER: irc.psionics.net CHANNEL: #maxminis | |

Well, having stayed through the credits for the surprise at the end, I noticed that they used many different FX companies (one of them being WETA of LotR fame). This is pretty common in big blockbuster movies, but that would account for the lack of consistency in the special effects. It seemed as if Brett Ratner is not as good with the process of consistency editing in FX as Singer was. | I'm going to go see it, and I'm going to enjoy it. I was a *big* Marvel fan back in the 80s and 90s. However, I have no expectation that the movie characters and events will have any relation to the comic books I read back then.
I'm sure I'll wonder why they couldn't have left the source of Juggernaughties power unsaid, why they felt they had to kill off X and Y characters, and a thousand other things... but in the end, you go to these movies for a little action escapism, not to rehas the past. Considering that most of us grew up in an era where the special effects all looked ridiculous, a few bad moments of wire work and bad CGI shouldn't be a barrier to enjoyment of this film. Heck, sometimes a ridiculously bad special effect can make a movie better.
As for an X-men IV: I doubt it. It is too expensive to bring back a significant cast of characters. They fixed this to an extent by killing off the expensive (yet expendable) folks, but it still won't be worth the budgt to a studio. Wait ten years, and then you'll see a new X-men series of movies, but I'm pretty sure this ship has sailed. | | Champion of Meepo _*_ Myztek on the Wizards Boards. _*_ (2206 DDM on 03/06/06) Please note: The use of the indicates an attempt at humor ... often a bad attempt. | | I thought the movie screamed for a sequal. The effects were awsome but I thought it left too much up in the air at the end. Here's hoping for X4. | | Called shot for blood war: Leonal

| X-Men 1 = character development-driven movie X-Men 2 = more action as character development fades to the background X-Men 3 = NO character development. Lots of nifty, shiny special effects. Lots of action. Excellent setup for a sequel. X-Men 4 = Back to character development-driven plot (assuming 4 gets made). | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. Commander (#32) in only 6 months. Where's my pie? | Since the chess piece moved, we don't know for sure what eventually becomes of Mystique, or Rogue for that matter (and, by association, her beau).
If Xavier's mind is so full of memories of others, there's no saying that currently "dead" characters could not be brought back via some weird memory power thing. Nothing like psionics to change reality.

The part with the Sentinal (big robot) was when Wolverine was inside a computer generated program. So, it was actually kind of realistic that the CG for that part wasn't as good. | | "Look to God and live." Alma 37:47 Vindicated Champ of Hippogriff (Arcadian Hippogriff) and Uncommon Horse
