Not my favorite either, actually it's one of the worst Dutch beers (and we got quite a few), but it's one of the major export products of our nation.
The Heineken export variety, which is the only one you can get in the States, is even worse. But hey, it's better than Budweiser, which has no flavor and only 3% alcohol.

I kinda like the yellow Hoegaarden. Once upon a time, it's quite nice.
Basic Hoegaarden with a slice of lemon is not my thing either (don't like white beer, it's like owl's piss).
They have produced some high quality beers though, the "Grand Cru" and "Grand Prestige" are great, as well as their double and triple brews.

| Urquell is pretty good, never heard of Gambrinus, if were talking standard pilsner, I prefer Brand, Jupiler, or Hertog Jan, Foster's is ok for a foreign pilsner brew. My best friend prefers Grolsch, which is ok.
