I don't eat at fast food places in this town. It's a small town and I've heard horror stories from people who used to work at some of the fast food places here. Oh, and I don't recomend you buy any store brand bread from my place of work. [xx(] | |

I hear that on both counts. I too have had friends work at KFC and other fast-food places give me the ol' "horror" stories and now I've not gone to any for a couple of years and it's just going to continue adding up in even more years because I simply cannot think about it, except for KFC. Why KFC, you might ask? I know it is likely the top dog in straight obvious grease and that comment alone might bring you images of grease dripping off each piece and sometimes this is a correct assumption but I simply put chicken in napkins all wrapped around it and wait a day or so and when as much grease is removed from the "drainage sequence", as I like to call it, from continuous use of this method I then put it in the fridge for a couple of days and then when I finally get around to actually eating the darn thing, it is very cold and crunchy with minimal grease, just the way I like it. Before I started doing this(a.k.a. pure eating straight from the container) I always had major bodily "malfunctions", if you will. But I rarely eat the regular chicken anymore and instead go for the popcorn chicken instead which I go through the earlier process in about a day and a half because it is far easier to remove the grease although I must admit I become tempted to eat it when it is hot right away after getting it because it just smells so darn good! If one must go through all of this trouble just to eat something tasty at a fairly high cost considering the purchase price versus how long it takes one to remove the unpreferrable aspect(a.k.a. the grease) of the food, how is it that they can still stay in business when they know that picky people like me either use the above method or some other means or simply eat it and then if they are a slightly older person(middle age + 15 or more years) they need to have their foot cut off after about 8 years of eating the stuff and grumble a little more each time they put out the high price in either case and figure it won't cause further irritation by putting nothing but eye candy(a.k.a. anorexic sticks of bone with a layer of skin on top) in the commercials and whatnot. Even A&W were a little more honest(at least 10 years ago though because they stopped doing it) by having Drew Carey as their commercial spokesman. He is not exactly the epitome of peak human physical condition so it wasn't so insulting back then but then again, even back then he was very humourous and easier to relate to so the eye candy issue was never really brought up. But I digress. In conclusion, fast-food places like KFC are more than gross because of the grease issue unless proper steps are taken to minimize its effect or simply not buy it at all.
As for grocery stores and supermarkets, you would not believe how many times daddy long-legs have invaded the bread and produce departments. I simply kill the little buggers but it really detracts from a business if you don't take pride in your work and take it upon yourself to actually do something instead of waiting for that one random person to do it for you because they are either nice or ignorant about your wants and simply want to get on with their own life. | |

I hope you're not serious. I've been getting this as my average meal(give or take or simply replace something for another, equivalent form of food) almost every night for about 12 years. Home-cooked meals are always the best(especially stew because I can cook it myself and that's the only time I play Master Chef, pun definitely intended)! | |

| I stick with popcorn chicken from KFC. Boneless chicken is always less greasy than on-the-bone. It even tastes good (I really dislike the flavor of the on-the-bone chicken [XX(]).
I'd imagine you can pick any fast food franchise and someone will have a horror story about it.

Personally, I'd love to hear one about Robin's Donuts because the worse thing I can think of is that whenever I order a low fat bran muffin, it is always filled with huge, oozing raisins because the raisin and bran batters are always used side-by-side in the pans. | |

That's what happens to me everytime I don't bother to remove the grease in the manner I already posted. Unfortunately, if it is the only thing available to eat when I am practically insane for something to eat and it is either eat it right away or take out the propane tank/hose attachment and go on an improvised blowtorch pyromaniac psychotic frenzy, I opt for the one that doesn't land me 30 to life in the slammer.

We have mice in the stock room, we store bread in the stock room, the mice like the bread. The bottom stack of bread (the bread are put in plastic containers that stack) usaually get hit, little holes tore in the bags with a big chunks of bread missing, we throw those out. At least I do, the new guy stocked some hotdog buns on the shelf the other day that had a maze carved into them, but the mouse didn't want to get lost so he left a trail to find his way back out. The rest of the store is pretty much mouse free (I hope) but I still only buy certain things from the store if you catch my drift. Honestly I don't know how that store gets by the health code, you can find the stockroom if you are blind, just follow your nose. The store is clean and tidy but the stock room is pretty nasty. | |

| I haven't been to KFC if a few years. I walked in to order some nuggets, and they had discontinued nuggets. The mashed potatoes are reconstituted and I really don't like reconstituted mashed potatoes. I don't plan on going to KFC again.
(By the way, I don't see any article link anywhere in this thread.)
I used to like Wendy's, but rarely go there anymore. The hamburgers are junk (I used to like them, so either my taste buds have changed or their method of making the meat has changed). The french fries are usually soggy, and I can't stand undercooked/soggy fries. The only thing I like about Wendy's now is the Frosty, and I can get milkshake type drinks in other places, even if they are different. | |

| I worked at KFC when I was much younger and much more stupid. We used to catch flies and throw them in the deep fryer.
Yes, we would then fish out the dead fly corpse. Even we didn't leave them in there.
Back in those days, the BBQ chicken was made from the original recipe we had left over at the end of the night. We would take it and throw it into a big plastic bucket of BBQ sauce where it would marinate overnight. I have to imagine that's not how it's done today.

It makes you run to the bathroom later...But it is Oh-So-Tasty so I eat it anyway.
Me and my friends call KFC "Dirty Chicken".
"Dirty" food is our slang for food that is greasy and obviously not good for you...But its so delicious that you eat it anyway.
Sloppy BBQ ribs that come off a dirty grill...A big bowl of Pork n' Beans make by a chef who looks like an overweight trucker who has a "secret recipe"....White Castle....OH THATS DIRTY!! Gimme some :)
