I'm on vacation. Just stoped at my sister's in Indiana. Spent a week in the North Woods of Wisconsin. While making a trip into town one morning, a small pack of wolves crossed in front of us. Three adults and three pups. Now I'm no expert, but I know a little about wolves and coyotes (got a book). They were too big to be coyotes and they sure looked like wolves. Pretty darn cool!!! It was a great trip. . . caught many fish, saw a bald eagle every day at least once, saw an osprey(sp?) a couple times, saw loons flying and fishing, watched a momma deer and fawn at waters edge for 20 minutes while fishing one morning. But to see wild wolves was quite the highlight.

The wolf is one animal that I have yet to see wild that I would really like to. I've seen more bald eagles than I can count, sea otters, moose, the tail flukes of a couple whales, and a few other things (small game mostly) here or there.

My folks regularly visit family in the Appleton/Green Bay area, and on one of the last trips my dad says he saw a wolf at the edge of the highway. It's nice to know that they're making a comeback.

Better wolves than cougars. Wolves, as far as I can tell(educated guess), will not bother you unless you bother them or they are starving or you are in their way somehow(they were chasing small game, you are inbetween it and its pups, etc.). Cougars will just attack you unless you scare them by being bigger and/or louder than them which is pretty hard to do if you are alone. Also, never turn your back on either one of them(although the cougar especially). I've actually wanted to see(through binoculars) wolves "up-close". Pretty interesting. Enjoy the rest of your vacation!

Some genius keeps releasing wolves and coyotes here in Florida. They keep killing livestock and everyone is being forced to hunt them.
Anyway that is real pretty country up there. Its always fun to get away from the crowds. The deer up there are huge to. My uncle has some land in Wisconsin. I'll have to amble up there one day.

just to add my two bits, encountering a pack of wolves on there home tuff brought two diffrent feeling to mind. the first was awe,(hey there's a pack of wolves over there) the second was fear(hey there's a pack of wolves over there) thankfuly the were paying more attention to dinner than myself. Yeah wolves are cool.

Got a lot of mosquitos in my area. Not many wolves though.

Where do you live in Florida? I know some people that own a wolf/coyote sanctuary place around Naples, maybe they're releasing wolves?

Wolves are pretty amazing, the only wolves I've seen were with a travelling group who brought them around, and run a sanctuary out West. They really are magical creatures, your so lucky to see them in the wild like that.
