| Why is it that people feel they have to drive around the fracking parking lot for five minutes looking for the absolutely closest parking space to the building they are going to? I sat in the car today while the person I was with weaved through every row in the parking lot three times each looking for a space to park. There were at least two hundred spaces free further away from the building, but they had to find a spot right next to the store.
If this just happened once I could forget about it. But it seems like I am the only person in the world who just parks right away in a free space and then walks the extra hundred feet. It takes a whole fifteen seconds to walk that distance, yet everyone seems to find it impossible to walk that far.
I just can't understand this behavior. Why do people have to spend more time driving around looking for a place to park than it would take to park right away in a spot farther away and then walk? | | It's deja vu all over again.

| | I am with you man, its a major pet peeve of mine as well. I also find it a bit humorous when I come out of a store and get followed by a car as I walk to my spot and when they realize i'm parked in the back suddenly rush by me and, sometimes, look at me as if i've wasted there time. | | | |

| | What's sad is that they can wast minutes trying to find a closer parking spot when they could already be in the store. Do you ever had passengers complain that didn't park closer? I'll admit I park as far away I can just annoy my passengers at time, plus it makes finding my car easer. | | My webcomic: http://www.sentimentalhorde.com Bringing world peace by conquering on nation at time! | |

| This annoys me also. My pet peeves are many, though. Clapping at the movies is chief among them. By Crom, a justrecording cannot appreciate an applause, so why annoy me with such nonsense. But I digress. As far as the parking thing goes. I purposely park far away for the exercise. If most of these people walked an extra 50 feet to the store every day would drop 10 pounds. | | Evil triumphs when good men fail their morale saves. | |

| | I completely agree that it is pointless to continuously circle a parking lot like that. I could be in the geographically farthest place to where I want to go when I park but I wouldn't care. I don't even try to squeeze in places available ripe for the picking, so to speak. When I park, all I care about if I am absolutely determined in any aspect of parking is that I park in such a manner my truck is pointing out so I don't have to back up into the moronic circlers you mentioned. Of course, to some people, what I just described is a potential pet peeve in its own right but that is why I always park where it is secluded with no vehicles around so I can park the way I like to. Luckily, I have had no trouble so far doing this(with my dad's truck but not my mom's car) but if I absolutely had to park with my front end on the inside, its not like it is a really big deal, simply unpreferrable. Although when it comes to parking and pet peeves, mine would be if I have to use my mom's car when my dad is using the truck and when I park, almost everytime I come back from a store and I couldn't park the way I like and instead have been forced to park so I would have to back up, several bow-hunks with trucks are parked in every possible way around me and they are so tall and long that I am afraid of hitting the circlers even more than usual because I just simply cannot see where I am going. More than once have I come about a foot or so from a serious fender-bender. But sometimes I laugh because on some of those occasions(granted, not many) the parking lot was so crowded, the cicler who nearly hit me would park where I just left from. | I park as far away as i can, cuz im afraid of nailing people with my poor parking skills, basically. I really just laugh as i watch people roll past perfectly good parking spots in a vain search for a closer spot. Oh well. Nowadays, the gas they spend drving around the lot looking for a spot will eventually exceed thier initial planned purchase at said store!

| I hate people following slowly behind me as I'm walking to my car more than I hate them for driving up & down the parking lot looking for a closer spot.
A couple of times my girlfriend and I have walked slowly to our car while a car is following right behind us. We walk all the way to the back of the lot and then just stop and look around. Then we turn around and walk back to our car that's way back near the front of the lot as if we forgot where we parked. We've done this twice, and both times the car following us speeds off all ticked off.
It's laughing at little things we do like that which makes us not so annoyed at the morons around us. | | Miniatures for sale *more added 07/17/08*: Click here I will buy your unwanted D&D WotC minis collection (DDM only). Email me your asking price!

Oh man, I hear you on this. My wife can't stand it unless I get the "absolute closest" available parking spot. I used to just park where ever I want and make her walk, but then we would get in a big pissing match, and fight while we shop, instead of enjoying ourselves. Over a stupid parking spot!! After being married for 12 years now, I've learned to find the closest spot when she is with me. AAARGGGHHHH!!! I guess I'm turning into a trained husband.
- When someone in a car follows me on foot to my car, I start laughing inside. It is really funny to me for some reason. I mean what if I'm just out for a walk, and don't have a car?
I'll stop... look at the sky for a second like I forgot something, and they stop... then just when I think they will give up, I'll start walking again, and they start following again. Hilarious.
One time I was just heading back to my car to wait for my wife to fininsh shopping, so I got into the car and leaned the seat back to take a nap. The car actually sat there and waited for about 5 minutes, even though my car showed no signs of moving!! About 15 more feet and there was open spots all over! I don't get it, just dumb people I guess.

| My uncle and I had this same parking discussion a couple of years ago. His wife is the type that would rather drive around for 10 minutes looking for a close spot, when there are lots of outer spots available. It drives him nuts. I don't like it myself.
Lots of negatives that go with this. Bad for your health, as walking is good for you. Bad for the car, because it can overheat at idle speeds. Bad for the breaks and tranny with all the stop and go business. Bad for the environment with all the extra pollution. The other thing I noticed? If you park way out there, with no other car beside you, there's less of a chance of getting a ding on your door from some mofo who opens his door carelessly. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades.
