Before last week I had ever heard of this.  Then I read about it in this month's Esquire and then proceeded to hear it talked about on the radio several times, brought up by my firends, etc.

Since the people on this board are pretty savy, I was wondering how many are involved with this and what you do on it. I find it completely fascinating.

I've ducked into it a few times. As far as I can tell, it's not a game in any traditional sense of the word. It's more of an online sandbox. Some companies have held virtual presentations on Second Life, and some folks spend a lot of time making objects and selling them for real life money (which makes it a pretty likely upcoming target for the IRS).

I'll be honest, maybe it's that I'm not a graphic artist, but I just can't "get into it" or see the appeal. If someone who's really into it wants to speak up, I'd love to know more, maybe I just haven't spent enough time there.

I first heard about it several years ago, but it doesn't interest me at all. It basically seems like an MMO without any of the interesting or fun parts.

Champion of the Gelatinous Cube. Nemesis of Gnomes and Dinosaurs.

Over the centuries, mankind has tried many ways of combating the forces of evil... prayer, fasting, good works and so on. Up until Doom, no one seemed to have thought about the double-barrel shotgun. ~ Terry Pratchett

I saw a show covering it on the TV,I agree with Sulaco's take on it.
