I think it's more of a curiosity to me than anything else.

For example, in college there was a pyramid of spam cans left in my dorm room when I moved in. I quietly packed them away and offered them to every visitor I had for the entire year (they all politely declined). At the end of the year I unpacked them and left the pyramid as I had found it for the next tenant. I'm not sure if the tradition continues.

I'll be honest, in all of my time with the cans, I thought of them more along the lines of a gag rather than serious eating, although I am aware that some folks love it. But I'm afraid it's just not for me.

I don't love or hate the stuff. My mother makes a macaroni salad that has spam in it, it's quite good.

Never cared for the stuff.  I prefer Scapple over Spam.... which is a far nastier product in some ways.

It's never occured to me to ever try it. I've never been in the supermarket and thought to myself "Hey I need some unidentified meat in a can." There's probably nothing wrong with it, I've just never tried it.

According to wikipedia, it's chopped pork shoulder meat and ham. So it's not unidentified. Other useful tidbits include that it was the only non-rationed meat in Brittan in WW2, which caused the country to consume it regularly and grow tired of it.

Spam is essentially the same as hot dogs (although the meat used in spam is probably less questionable).

Spam casserole, fried, chopped spam + mac and cheese, and spamsticks are all very good.

I have never had spam, and I'm not sure I ever will.

I do love hot dogs, however, and i understand they are both made from the same things. (I would say meat, but...)

It's odd that you mention that.  I learned of this theory last night.

There is an okinawan dish that is really good using Spam.

You chop up the spam as well as goya (a very bitter okinawan vegetable) and lightly fry them with a bit of fried egg.

It is mix of salty and bitter flavors. Very tasty.

I do not consume spam on a daily basis. However when I go hunting I eat it. It is easy to pack away, although it is heavy, and requires no special storage. Plus you can eat it hot or cold. So it is a miracle food for the outdoorsman.

I did a little searching and these are basically cut-up hot dogs in either beans or mac and cheese? If so, i have had them. I've never heard that term before yesterday though.

Precisely. Regular sandwich = sammich. Spam sandwich = spammich. It's all very logical in a weird, spam-filled universe.
