| I know I've seen some fantasy/RPG movies I'd recommend - anyone else? I know we've all seen some stinkers too...let's try to stay away from them...
Dragonslayer Lord of the Rings - all 3 of Peter Jackson's version Excalibur 13th Warrior Krull Conan the Barbarian Conan the Destroyer Braveheart Rob Roy Lord of the Rings - animated Return of the King - animated The Hobbit - animated
Can't remember any others right now... | | Shottglazz "Take my love, take my land, take me where I cannot stand; I don't care, I'm still free, you can't take the sky from me."

| Legend Willow Ladyhawke
Those come to mind.
Hmmm... what's a stinker? I would have put Krull in that category.
Edit:Â
The 2 D&D movies Time Bandits Jason and tha Argonauts 7th Voyage of Sinbad Clash of the Titans The Never Ending Story The Last Unicorn Harry Potter franchise Fire and Ice Red Sonja The Dark Crystal The Beastmaster Hawk the Slayer
  | | You know, I keep thinking that after the new design team gets done with D&D 4e, D&D won't stand for Dungeons and Dragons anymore, because well, that's just not fun. It's old and stuffy. - Originally Posted by BabWryter on Kenzerco.com | |

Other stinkers: Eragon (can't wait for the steaming pile of sequel)
Recommendations: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon The Adventures of Baron Munchausen The Beastmaster The Black Cauldron The Chronicles of Narnia (BBC version) The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe (Andrew Adamson version) House of Flying Daggers Hero The Goonies (it's a dungeon crawl ) The Dark Crystal The Last Starfighter (more sci-fi than fantasy, but still...)

| The second D&D movie wasn't awful. It was a made for cable movie, and it showed. It would have been much better if had a bigger budget. As for the first one... well, beholders are cool. Beholders fooled by thrown rocks are not.
First Knight Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves Gladiator Alexander 300 Troy King Arthur Eric the Viking

But it was sure close
The acting was bad, the druid's death was incomprehensible (except as plot device), and the lich was funny rather than scary. If the entire movie had managed to be a good as the opening intro sequence it would have actually been quite good. Alas. | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. Commander (#32) in only 6 months. Where's my pie? Read the book. It was, um, pretty much a steamer as well. Not bad for a post-colonialist teenage writer, but, simultaneously, obviously produced by a post-colonialist teenage writer. Two more classics: Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure AND Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey (technically they're fantasy )

Interestingly enough, most science-fiction is actually of the fantasy genre. Perfect examples of this include Star Wars (the Force) and Star Trek (tachyon emissions (theoretical), worm holes (theoretical), warp engines (not possible with current understanding of universal physics), etc). | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. Speaking of which, I can't believe no one has mentioned Highlander yet. Not the sequels, though. They tell me there was a second movie, but I don't believe it's true. Much like a 5th Star Trek movie and prequels for Star Wars. Not sure why they think they were made.
