| You know, I've always wondered what breaking a bone was like, but I've thus far been blissfully ignorant. Sorry to hear it happened, and I'm sure that being pregnant must make it considerably more uncomfortable and complicated (although congratulations on your soon to be mini).

If it's any consolation, when my mother was 9 months pregnant with my sister, she fell, chipped a bone in her foot, and the whole thing set her into labor.
Please feel better.

| 9 months pregnant? Don't worry, in a few days the pain of breaking your arm will seem like a laughable event!
Booyah!
BTW, my wife went all-natural. Not even an aspirin. If you have any inclination to go that way, use the shower - my wife said it made things much more bearable. *Aside from counter-pressure I applied. But you have to train the dad to do that properly. Might be too late!

| Yeah - I'm not a big fan of scheduled c-sections either. It's something that doctors have pushed on women in recent years to make childbirth easier on THEM (read: the doctors). They don't have to wait until the baby is ready to come naturally. They just slice the woman open, leave a nice ol' scar, and go play a round of golf. Oh - yeah - and they collect a bigger paycheck on a c-section than a vaginal birth.
For the women I've known who have done both, they've said the post-partem pain is far worse than babies they delivered vaginally. From an article online:
"For example, they may think of Caesareans as reducing the pain that
they will experience. However, while regional anesthesia such as
epidurals can reduce the experience of pain during vaginal deliveries,
this pain often pales in comparison to the substantial long-term pain
after birth experienced by women who have undergone Caesareans." (source: http://www.womensenews.org/article.cfm/dyn/aid/2710/context/archive)
So, scheduled c-sections are no panacea.
Not to dis your decision, Lidda, but my wife had a wonderful natural experience and it's a shame that the medical profession is pushing woman away from that course these days. In fact, our next child will probably be a home birth.
Hope your break heals quickly!

| Oh, I've had plenty of contractions and pre-labor pains, so I'm not getting off totally for free.
Not to sound dramatic, but last time I almost died. They had to do an emergency section at 35 weeks or I wouldn't be here today. The docs get plenty of GP for doing the surgeries, as do the insurance companies, but that doesn't bring me down because I know my case isn't a frivilous one. I know vag. deliveries are better as far as both mom & baby are normally concerned, but for me personally I'm just glad to be alive and able to carry a baby to term this time, and I have a c-section experience to thank for that. :-D | | Assoc. | When the former Mrs. of Celene was preggers with our twins, she was having contractions during the first trimester . . . she had to be put on full bedrest, and that was during the process to move to Michigan!
Also . . . for you new fathers out there . . . NEVER ask the nurses when they are weighing your pregnant wife if they measure in english pounds or metric tons.
Especially where those in the waiitng room can hear.

In the interest of NOT hijacking this thread, I won't post a million links to contradict most of your points.
And what's with the hostility towards gamers? Are gamers unintelligent and uninformed? Are games all there are to a gamer? Does every gamer have no life, no knowledge, nothing to offer, beyond games? By dismissively waving off the posters on this site as simply "a bunch of gamers" is kind of condescending. As a former game store owner (among other things - *gasp* I have a life beyond games), I've actually known DOCTORS who were gamers. So... nyah. ;-)
As to Lidda - I already agreed that she made the right decision for herself based on her past medical history. I only wish the best for Lidda and her new baby.
