| I just got back from Dragon*Con in Atlanta and... WOW!
There was between 50-60k people there this weekend and it was crazy. The most amazing thing was the incredible number of HOT babes that showed up in costume. They were totally geeked out! You name it - Star Trek, comic book characters, video game characters, or just off-the-wall outfits, the number of amazingly beautiful women in costume was incredible. PLUS, there was a ton of fine ladies that weren't in costume, per se, but were wearing something very sexy. And then there were the gorgeous gals who were just walking around in jeans and a t-shirt...
Unreal!
When did geek become so sexy? When they realized that geeks grow up and make money? If so, I'd like to give a shout out to Bill Gates and thank him for all he has done for us!
I took hundreds of pictures and I'll post some soon! Watch this space!

| I seem to recall an article a while back..... not only did it attribute it to Bill Gates and the Tech boom, but also popular culture/media like Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

| There was an article a while ago that argued (using sociological statistics) that geeks make better lovers. There's even a classic Fox Trot that pays homage to the idea (Jason disavows geekdom while Peter becomes a geek).

| Remember: this is only a select few hotties that I took the time to photograph while running between events I wanted to attend.
1) I didn't capture all the hotties there by a long shot
2) Many of these pics aren't top notch because they were taken while I was on the move
3) I did not take pics of ladies wearing "sexy, but not a true costume"
4) I did not take pics of ladies who were hot, but completely uncostumed. (You may be able to see some in the background.)
5) A bunch of pics came out too dark to post because my shutter speed accidentally flipped for half of a day. :-(
I've always been partial to the Little Mermaid, but I love, Love, LOVED Tank Girl (in the pink - #2). She was soooooo adorable. I think there might even be more pics of her up at www.cosplay.com.

| This has actually been documented on the Interweb a few times: the odd
phenomenon that a number of "geek girls" seem to be rather attractive,
or at least in nice shape, and "geek guys" tend to be... well, buttery
doughy guys (tm MST3K). Now that I think about it, cosplay may be the
key. Face it: to make a lot of those outfits work, you have to maintain
a nice figure. If cosplay is important to you, you should probably stay
in shape. Male costumes are a little more forgiving, although those
Spartan dudes in the pictures need to do their fair share of situps.
I like dressing up in costumes as much as the next geek, but it's not
as big a thing for me. And there are costumes I simply won't
wear, because... well, I'm a buttery doughy guy. As Mick Foley
once said to a fellow wrestler who was considering running around in
just a speedo:Â "You know, Dennis, there's a reason I wrestle in a
T-shirt and sweats."

Actually, most of the girls in those pics were attractive in one way or another. My ability to capture them properly with a camera while on the run between events is another matter altogether!
Perfect example - the girl in the fishnet outfit with wings. WHen I snapped the shot, she was biting her lip and looking to the side. Bleh. When she was smiling, she looked great!
