| I know a lot of folks around here read fantasy and I'm sure more than a few of you have read through the wheel of time series. I thought I should mention that Robert Jordan died yesterday, Sept 16th.

| Ya, I came here after just reading the news elsewhere today.
While he will be missed, I'm hoping he had the ball rolling on finishing his series, or else 'The Wheel of Time' will be the biggest unfulfilled cliff-hanger ever.

| That's too bad. I just read his first 2 Wheel of Time books for my first time over the summer. I didn't really enjoy them much though. I found his writing to be overly descriptive and drawn out, and his main characters were pretty annoying. But the overall elements of his world & storyline was interesting. I decided I didn't want to read any more Wheel of Time books after I finished the 2nd novel. It's sad to hear the guy is gone though...he was an fantasy icon.

| Man, I thoroughly enjoyed the first half dozen Wheel of Time books. I enjoyed the rest to a lesser degree, and I hoped he would finish the series soon. It's a sad note that he's passed. Sadder still if he passed before he could close the Wheel of Time. Perhaps his editor has a draft and someone will step in to polish it up. Won't quite be the same, regardless.
Edit: From his blog, it doesn't look like he had time to finish it. Must have been rough. Not that there is ever a good time to die, but to pass without having quite finished such an ambitious work... | | "Before God we are all equally wise - and equally foolish." - Albert Einstein Champion of Myopic Half-Orcs Winner, WBC X | |

| That is sad [):]
I heard that there was only one more novel to go to finnish the series. I think i am thinking of someone else actually. ahh Knife of dreams is second to last book, so that would make next the last.
I really enjoyed the first 1/2 dozen of the wheel of time though gave up after winters night.
I used to joke that he would die before finnishing them, and I hope I was wrong ):
He also wrote some darn good conan books and other stuff.

| Its hard to belive that even Jordon was going to be able to wrap up all loose ends in one last book :| I'm sure the main story arc will be completed and thats something though. | | "Mutton yesterday, mutton today, and blimey, if it don't look like mutton again tomorrer." | Yeah, I would bet we see one final book, and then a lot of anthologies clearing up tertiary plot points.
