CNN is actually running a pretty amusing piece on historical drinking stories.

#4 in particular gave me a jolt.  I thought it was a fun read, enjoy.

#4 is awful. Completely expected, but awful

#5 is hilarious. Reminds me of Dumbo

An interesting side note:

During the nineteenth century, the average American consumed over 4 gallons of liquor annually. Nowadays its closer to 2 gallons.

#2 is my favorite.

A wall of 1.3 million gallons of dark beer washed down the street, caving in two buildings and killing nine people by means of "drowning, injury, poisoning by the porter fumes, or drunkenness."

Wow!

You know, I keep thinking that after the new design team gets done with D&D 4e, D&D won't stand for Dungeons and Dragons anymore, because well, that's just not fun. It's old and stuffy. - Originally Posted by BabWryter on Kenzerco.com

It made me think of both the Great Molasses explosion of Boston, and #2 on Homer's Simpson's wish list.

Number 5 actually happened again recently. Elephants in Asia geot drunk and killed themselves in some manner involved with power poles. I don't have a specific link, you could probably google it.
