I thought this was going to be a pretty awesome article comparing online mmo currency inflation to the USD.
I was highly disappointed. It was more like, "Hey! there are video games! Some of them use things that resemble money! As they are all arbitrary, the developers made some things in game consume fewer units that things out of game!" I feel like the author would be impressed by how many pennies something would cost too... | | | |

O.o The article or my reply? My reply was on topic! And ya, back in the day I got off topic 24/7 which is why I was exiled to moderate the OT forums. The first thing I did was start a thread to pick my titile. Avatar of the ____. Irrelevant was my favorite suggestion so I went with it.

You have to have the two-level effect, with a little path running down the middle.

| I don't really see why people wouldn't pay for in game currency. I'm >against< it as a player, but at the end of the day, I make $X an hour. In one hour of gameplay I can make X/10000 gold. As I only have enough time to play for one hour a day, why wouldn't I want to spend real world cash for in game currency so that I could do something more fun during that hour than farm gold?
Any time a service is exchanged, cash changes hands :P sure wow gold isn't "real" in the sense of physical, but neither is the experience of watching a movie.

I dont like it as a player, and I think it does _bad_ things to PvsP games when wealth buys tougher characters. Though freetime builds them stronger...
Most of my dislike is the RMTs (real money traders for game money/objects) method of advertising ie SPAM offends me more than what they are selling.
