| Filling mine up last night was around $42 I think. I did go with the good stuff then. I wonder though does premium Gasoline realy have an effect on your engine? The ads at the station always say something about driving your engine clean...

| | The octane grade shouldn't have a negative effect on your engine, as long as you are using the recommended grade for that engine. If you are driving a lot of steep grades, or towing heavy loads, you might sometimes notice a little more engine knock - then you can use one grade higher. | |

If you have a 95 or older, an 87 octane should be fine (it runs less than a 10:1 compression ratio). 96 onwards they made one with a V-TEC engine. If you have an SI with the upgraded V-TEC engine, then put in the highest octane you can. | |

| Upward it climes.
Now gas is up to $4.10 to $4.15 a gallon.
I did see gas at one local station: $41.0 per gallon. Really scary. An error or a omen of things to come.

I have a 5 min drive to work, but my wife has a 25 min drive to work. Combined it adds up to about $80+ per week in gas.
Someone is getting very very very rich on these exceedingly high prices and sSomething has to be done about this.

| I wonder if gas prices might finally entice the US to move to the metric system? If gas stations started advertising gas at $1.06/liter instead of $4/gallon, I bet a lot of folks would think they were getting a deal. We Americans can be stupid and are generally slaves to clever advertisement (the 9/10 cent baloney is a perfect example).
For that matter, the change to metric would make people feel like they were driving faster, too. Though a remake of Sammy Hagar's "I can't drive 55" wouldn't have quite the same ring to it as "I can't drive 88.5".
As a down side, those gas-guzzling SUV's would sound even worse when you read how they get 6 km/L instead of 14 mi/gal. (Or maybe that's an up-side, too.) | |

| Okay, let's hear some opinions. I'll give you guys & gals three options, and you tell us which scenario you think is most likely to happen and why.
a) gas will eventually become cheaper again like it did after the original 70's fuel crisis
b) hybrids, alternative fuel, and super-efficiant cars will become the norm
c) people will start fighting for and stealing fuel, and we are going to see our world turn into a Road Warrior/Mad Max wasteland | |
